Man! I am really enjoying this. Superb art. I love it. I am liking the story too though it does seem a bit rushed. Yet, it is a mini-series. I look forward to this book each month. Am I the only one?
I just can't BLOK it out!

Very intense. Pretty grim and gritty for a Hanna-Barberra cartoon character. But beautiful, beautiful artwork by Ariel Olivetti, and I'm enjoying the straight take on the character. I cna't wait to get issue three in my next subs delivery!

I have to agree...I found issue #1 while I was out of town and really like the darker version.

If you HAVEN'T bought this and can still find number 1, check it out! It's sold out from DC, apparently, and going back for a second printing. I checked my two local stores for a friend... one was sold out, and the other had their three remaining issues marked up to $12 ALREADY!!!

I never did get into the cartoon on the telly nor the late night spoofs they ran a few years back. But i picked this up out of curiosity. As a "new" reader with no preconceptions i rather enjoyed this. although a lot of the background settings seemed very derivitive, with none of the characters seeming very orginal. that said the artwork is very good and i am interested in seeing where the story goes, which i suppose is all you can ask from a comic book. Lets hope the ending is better than Identity Crisis

Ariel Olivetti has long been a favourite artist of mine but I just can't get into Joe Kelly's style of writing. He's not as bad as Judd Winnick but he's one of those writers that I always find myself questioning his handling of certain characters.
I'd love to see Olivetti find a permanent home somewhere else in the DCU though.

Now, if anybody wants to see how SPACE GHOST should REALLY be handled, search the back-issue bins for the Comico one-shot from 1987, with art by STEVE RUDE !!!

I agree - the Steve Rude comic (written by Evanier I think??) was great. It totally captured the feel of the cartoon without being too "cartoony". Still, I would've preferred something a bit more sophisticated (something along the lines of "Nexus" or "Zot!" would've been just right).
I liked the idea of treating Space Ghost in a more "realistic /darker" way, but this story isn't really doing it for me. This is a pretty standard revenge story so far and doesn't really do anything to enrich the mythos (there certainly could've been an interesting backstory to his weapons, for instance). Thaddeus seems pretty two-dimensional to me as well - I can't help but think of him as "Batman in space". He's also getting a bit too dark. I'm sure he'll find his moral center before it's all over, but that won't necessarily make him a deeper character.
The bugs look cool though...

I read somewhere that DC may continue Space Ghost with another mini..Hope they keep the same team they have now. I have actually enjoyed this mini.
