Retcon or Rerun?

Veteran artist/writer John Byrne is currently working on 3 DC titles: Doom Patrol, Blood of the Demon, and Action Comics. Unfortunately, the sales on Doom Patrol have been dropping at a fast rate with no signs of stopping, and it is highly likely that the series will be cancelled soon.

Editorial is rumored to be fast at work to explain away this retcon of the classic team and fit it back into the previous continuity. One interesting possible explanation is that this John Byrne Doom Patrol series is actually a TV series within the DCU that is based on the classic team (one of the characters in the previous Arcudi version of the Doom Patrol had mentioned he wanted to produce such a series).
Anyway, even if that's not true, what is it this time? More magic siblings-who-weren't and mindwipes?

My views are my own and do not reflect those of everyone else... and I wouldn't have it any other way.

No, Byrne has been dropping hints since issue #4. Rita Farr / Elastigirl is the key to all of this.

Just from looking at the pic Rod has posted, I'm gonna say Cliff (at least) time travels - or sidesteps, who the hell knows anymore - back to the point where the team gets killed the first time (God, that's so weird to type...). Basically, the end of their Silver Age run.

Tried to read it. Hated it. Heard rumors of Beast Boy's origin being redone since the 'revival' but no mention in Titans yet......hope its all a sham. Although I would dig the return of Rita Farr...although I always thought Gar's long time girlfriend Jillian should have becomethe new Elasti-Girl....

I certainly won't shed any tears for the loss of Grunt, Void and Nudge.

Actually, I think I'd rather like the current series being explained as a TV Show... it would mean Arcudi's fun run is in-continuity after all!

Whatever they decide to do, just do it, because the new team really isn't working well for me and I am really only buying it because of loyalty to Ria Farr and Cliff Steele.

Dropping hints, or leaving himself escape hatches in a plan he must've realised would just piss off most of the fans of the original team?

This would be fine with me too. Which would technically mean that it spun from the DCU's version of the JLU cartoon.
