Is anyone else reading Irredeemable? I know Waid has a lot of detractors on this board but there have to be some fans as well. While I thought Waid had some problems with wielding the Legion, generally I thought his ideas were innovative and intriguing if not always perfectly
I haven't read much else of his asde from Kingdom Come until now and I think Irredeemable is pretty fantastic so far and completely unlike his Legion work. A brief synopsis: Basically, an unstoppable god-like Superman-type character looses it and commences a potentially apocolyptic mass-murder spree somewhat along the lines of Moore's Kid Miracleman. His former compatriots are trying to figure out what went wrong and how to stop him, but they too are becoming his victims one by one.
It's grim, grisly, full of subtleties, surprises and some pretty excellent characterizations. I'd highly recommend it.

My comic guy mentioned this but the way he was talking, I thought it was an old series. He said he's had a heck of a time getting enough product and even emailed (and received a return call) from the publisher (I guess).
Locally it seems to be a hit. I've not seen it. I'd like to but it doesn't seem possible to get the issues.

Waiting for the trade. Definitely looking forward to it, though.

Sounds kind of grisly for me, but I might check out the trade too. I'm enjoying Waid's Unknown, which has a lower death count. It looks like both series are dealing with Big Questions, though.
