At the CBS yesterday I purchased my weekly stash of comics. Nothing out of the ordinary- Countdown, Jonah Hex, Nightwing. But I've been purusing the TPB section, hoping to find a copy of Matt Wagner's MAGE: The Hero Discovered that isn't a messed up printing copy. You won't believe what I found.

NEW MEN - the first TPB collectiong issues 1-5. Yeah it's an early Image book, but I don't care. It was a fun title.

Anyone else got a flashback they want to share?

Just spouting off.

Craig, Sprouse did some work for the second volume, after the Liefeld/Image split. You're right- durn good looking drawing by the man.

For a minute there I thought you said "Next Men". I was going to have to revoke your commission in the undead army if that was the case.

Never read the Next Men, but I've seen it the stores frequently. Should I avoid it like a zombie?

Only if you have the sense to avoid Byrne stuff. Like most, started out okay but went to hell quick. And I never could tell the characters apart as he got to that point where everyone looked the same.

As for a flashback, I was recently thumbing through my old John Carter comics. Great old stuff there from Marv Wolfman and Gil Kane art. #11 featured Dave Cockrum. Back in the days when Marvel put out a decent comic.
