Newsarama reports-- From Aspen Comics' Vince Hernandez:
Hello all,
Unfortunately it's with great sadness that I must inform everyone that Michael Turner tragically passed away last night, June 27th at approximately 10:42 pm in Santa Monica, Ca. Turner had been dealing with recent health complications arisen in the past few weeks. More details concerning Turner's passing, and services, will be given shortly. Sad. He was pretty young. I definitely wasn't a fan of his output, but have to admire his work ethic and enthusiastic spirit while facing his illness over the last 7 years. RIP.

It always is shocking when someone young passes.
R.I.P. Mr. Turner.

Yeah, this is very sad. From what I understand of Turner, he went above and beyond to make himself accessible to fans at Cons and appearances, even after his initial diagnosis. That kind of willingness to give the fans a sense of participation is always something very endearing and he'll be missed.

I just saw this a few minutes ago. Very sad.
Stumbling into Legion World on a Google-whim 4 years ago got me reading Legion again after a 15-year hiatus. Michael Turner's Identity Crisis cover with the empty JLA uniforms is what got me reading comics outside of the threeboot Legion.

Wow! I never liked his work but he came across as such a nice guy in interviews. I can't believe how much this news has affected me.

This is really very sad. Michael died age 37 - just one year older than me. This must be hard on his loved ones, especially considering the constant struggle he so valiantly fought over the last years.
It's not that long that there was an article about his battle against cancer in Wizard, ending on a hopeful note back then. I'm really very sad to hear about this news, and yes, I always liked his work.
Probably will pick up my copies of Fathom tonight to honor his passing away.
