whoa. a good logo is never a sign of a good series, but a bad (or in this case near absent) logo is a sign of "don't bother it's gonna be cancelled anyway". remember the plain black one after DnA left? i was never a big fan of the new series logo but...now that they've added Supergirl and eliminated the heads, it's kind of nothing. this book really needs an A-list logo. if they don't get one soon, i can't help but think that this book has been written off by the editors and is just being kept alive because A) contractual obligations to Waid and Kitson and/or B) hope that the upcoming cartoon will stir some interest. I am a fan who is worried. how's the sales?

I still like the logo, although not as much as before Kara was added. I also think that in its history, the Legion logo hasn't ever really been a big, showy one. As for sales, still going strong . Next numbers in a week or two.

Indeed. Thanks for posting these links, FC. I found Klein's analysis of the logos fascinating, to say the least.
I didn't know that he designed the LSH v2 logo from 1980. It's one of my least favorite Legion logos: too cartoony looking for my tastes. I remember thinking, though, that it was a modified version of the v1 logo (which I have a soft spot for, and which Klein praises): both feature blocky letters.
It surprised me how many Legion logos were designed by Klein over years. It is interesting how many variations he and other letterers came up with for such a long title.
