*Or*, have some of these been answered? Hell, I’ve been reading X-Men strait on through, and I’m still not so sure. But post the subplots you think are still dangling, or post the answer to them if you have knowledge that most are forgetting.

For example:

The connection between Mr. Sinister and the Summer family/the third Summer brother: (actually this is going to be hard without being long winded) we know Mr. Sinister was Nathanial Essex, a scientist from the 1800’s who had some harsh ideas on evolution. IIRC, Apocalypse helped turn him in Mr. Sinister at some point.

Sinister has been spying on/watching the Summers children for some time, because of something to do with when Cyclops and Jean were sent back in time after the were in the future raising Cable, correct?

There are a variety of candidates to be the third brother, although I think most of them have been disproved over the years. One was possibly X-treme (is that right?), the stupid looking kid from the early 90’s. I say this, b/c I believe he is part Shi’ar, and there is the idea that D’Ken of the Shi’ar had enslaved Cykes mother at some point after her and his dad were out in space. Now, I forget how I know all this and what’s right, so I’m kinda banking on someone helping me fill in the holes to this plot.

There are plenty of other similar subplots that we’ve all been wondering about, so list questions and answers!

Oh, one more:

Colossus and that girl in the savage land’s child – this stems from that scene with Coloussus with a couple of girls in the Savage land waaaaaay back in Byrne and Claremont’s run, and then how the retconned some more stuff in during the back-up stories of ‘X-Men Classics’ showing how this girl had a child and named him Peter. During Jim Lee’s run with Claremont (or right before) we see her again and her small child and someone wonders about the connection. Obviously, this is Peter’s child.

Have we seen this touched upon again in the last twenty years? Has the girl and her child been seen since?

Adam the X-Treme.

He was HEAVILY hinted at as "the third Summers brother", and there was an issue of the (just) X-MEN book where he saved Corsair's father ("his" grandpa) after the elder Summers crashed his little plane in the Alaskan wilderness.

It never made sense to me that he was the son of D'Ken and Kathryn Summers... it didn't seem the Summerses had been captives for that long before D'Ken slew her in fornt of Corsair before sending him to the slave pens.

It must not've made sense to later editors, either, as they pretty much dropped the plotline and the character.

Well, I always thought the plot twist might be interesting, but the character sucked pretty bad overall! Glad to see you remember him too, Pov!

I seem to recall that the third 'brother' might also be a 'sister', but now I can't remember if that is an actual notion from the comics or just something I read online (re: possibly unreliable). Are there any other likely candidates at this point, male or female?

Dangling X-plots:
Whatever happened to Cannonball being an X-Ternal or whatever the heck they call them? Immortal dudes. A bunch of them got killed and then like, we're not supposed to talk about them again or something?

That 'gap' that all the x-titles when through where like Pyslocke and Jean Grey swaped telepathic abilities and Cable joined the team etc...did they ever discuss what happened during that time?

Kitty was revealed to be part of those other kind of mutants - the Neo - around X-Men 100 and then she like disappeared for a bit or somthing with really short hair? Did they ever discuss how she escaped?

Re: The Kitty/Neo thing-

We never actually saw what happened to her, just Wolverine recieving a former piece of his bone claws from her, aka "she's letting me know that wherever she is, she's Ok". After that, she showed back up in Claremont's X-Treme X-Men working at a bar in Chicago and thinking of running for office for something (lower level position). This may have actually occured in X-Men Unlimited. Really, we never found out what happened.

I know there are plenty of other danglers though...

Adam X/X-Treme was intended by Fabian Nicieza (who wrote the Cyke/Sinister scene) to be the "third Summers Brother" (actually, the phrase Sinister used was just "your brothers", with him "correcting" himself when pressed by Cyke)

Cable #82-84 (hints), #85-86 (story proper). I pretty much wrote up a summary of the story as part of my only Marvel Appendix profile to date: http://marvunapp.com/Appendix/gauntcable.htm

After that, she gets enslaved again by an X-Treme X-Men foe (the arcs Schism and Prisoner of Fire), they free her and find out it's Rachel underneath, and she rejoins the team with a crap costume and codename. And with shocking promptness even for Claremont, gets enslaved again by a bunch of dinosaurs (We're at the "Bad Joke" level by this point)..

how abouut the Rogue wanted for the murder of a SHIELD agent sub-plot?

She was framed by the Hellfire Club, though this never again was mentioned.

Maybe that's what fury meant in recent issue of Astonishing, by refering to Emma Frost as a super-villian. I thought it odd because the HC really only fought the XMen and were not widely seen as villians.

Also don't forget that Skids was trapped in a small european country where she was possessed by an ancient sorceress masquerading as a locket.

And how did Moonstar's powers change from chaos energy back to her original psi-imaging.

Where the ***** are Leech, Celia Reyes, Chamber, Box2 and everyone else captured by Department H (weren't they Canadian? why are they on US soil?) No body seems to be looking for them.

To quote the NXMAX writers:

Dani has had a variety of powers over the years. Most of these have faded or disappeared after the events of X-Force #99-100. She is now down to the following: She cast illusions. Most often these are based on the target's greatest desire or worst fear. She can also generate illusionary weapons that do psychic damage.
No, I haven't read XF99-100

Weapon X <> Dept. H.

The current WX is a private, non-governmental, concern.

Hey I got one - is Bishop related to Storm or Gateway or someone else from this reality?

And also, are all the Age of A-pac-of-lips rejects that jumped into our 616 timeline finally dead/gone? Sugar Man? Dark Blue Beast? X-Man? Someone else right? If so, when did they get the boot?

Oooooh boooooy...forgot about those, MEL. As far as I know:

1. Bishop is related to Gateway. Gateway is like his great-grandfather (or older?) This was revealed (I think) at the beginning of X-Treme X-Men.

2. Well, we thought they were all gone. Originally, there were four: Dark Beast, Sugar Man, X-Man (Nate Grey) and Holocaust. Upon arriving to the 616-verse, Holocaust had his name changed to Nemesis to get rid of his very much offensive title. Here's what happened to them:

a). Dark Beast infiltrated the X-Men, blah, blah. BUT!!! (and that's a huge BUT), he actually originally arrived 20 years in the past first. What did he do for those 20 years? Why, he created the Morlocks with his experiments! Yes, Dark Beast created the Morlocks. Somehow, I think Sinister was involved in this as well (which also led to him having the Marauders kill them all). We thought Dark Beast was long gone, until he quite suddenly appeared in Excalibur recently.

b) Sugar-Man. Like Dark Beast, Sugar-Man arrived 20 years in the past, but landed on Genosha. There, it was HE that originally experimented on the mutants there and helped create the mutant slaves that powered Genosha's civilization. Thus, like Dark Beast, Sugar-Man was retconned in to have helped spark one of the major X-Men ongoing plots 20 years in the past.

c) Nate Grey (X-Man) is now dead and gone in this universe. However, he may have recreated Madelyne Prior at some point.

d) No idea what happened to Nemesis. For some reason, I want to say he joined Blob, Toad and Mimic in some new Brotherhood of Mutants in the late 90's, but now I can't remember if that's him.

Both Sugar-Man and Dark Beast were not seen for like ten years, until both recently appeared in Excalibur. I assumed this was directly connected to the Age of Apocolypse special that's coming out, but now I'm not sure b/c they never mention it in that book (I don't get AoA, just Excalibur).

Anyone know if this is correct? Also, am I right in thinking Madelyne may be alive again now?

They never did say what happened to Dani Moonstar in Asgard. It was implied that she left (or got tossed out) after something really bad happened, but Nicieza got kicked off X-Force, and no one ever went back to it.

This still seriously annoys me. :7

Maddy was alive at some point, resurrected by Nate. I don't know (or care much, for that matter--see the Davis quits X-Men thread for more bitching about the X-Titles) what her current status is.

Madylene Pryor is in limbo, basically (not either of the capitalised Limbos tho tongue ). She can't manifest on the physical plane (I think she's in a Cable issue confirming this), but neither is she quite gone.

Nominally, Holocaust actually changed BACK to Nemesis - it's established within the AoA that before Magneto nearly killed him, that was the name he went by. An alternate Holocaust turned up & died in Exiles recently.

Sugar Man got nonsensically killed by tentacleCallisto in Excalibur. Claremont's petcharacteritis strikes again! Dark Beast's still around.

And Claremont has REALLY messed up Bishop's backstory beyond belief. Instead of him being an African-American paramilitary policeman from Vegas in a dystopian future with tech barely beyond the present; he's an Aborigine-Australian who spent his young years there and was a NYC cop with a flying car in a future-tech filled world. Not to mention the sheer stupidity of tacking on a first name to him, which means his sister Shard always called him by his last name (while she's weirdly got a different last name.... Which Bishop called HER by too)

I think I read X-Men pretty faithfully up to around the Inferno storyline. I lost interest way before then, but just had that terrible habit we all have at one time or another of picking up a book by reflex. And at this point, all I can remember enjoying is the Cockrum and Byrne eras.

If anyone needs a Crisis/Zero Hour reboot, it's the friggin' X-Men.

Two more, and I'm hoping these can be addressed (possibly not really even 'subplots' per se):

1. Prof. X and his SHIELD agent contact- I seem to recall in the Claremont initial run, Prof. X having some contact in SHIELD that owed him a favor, or worked with him, or something. This guy was mentioned from to time, although I can't for the life of me, remember his name or if he's ever appeared after the Mutant Massacre storyline. Anyone have any idea what I'm talking about?

2. The very nature of Storm- this was touched on a few times, mainly in the issues where she is killed and then reborn, and then goes on a thievery spree that introduced Gambit. Basically, it appears that Storm's mutation is more than it appears, and that she's really part of the force of nature on Earth. What I mean is, she isn't actually African- she's a perfect mix b/t African/Asian/Cacausian/etc., as part of her mutation's connection to Earth. Further, I believe the two times she's died (first Brood saga and when Havok accidently killed her, both part of Claremont's first run), this was how she was able to be reborn.

Am I correct on this? I know I'm vague, but I can't for the life of me remember anything on this that isn't that vague. Maybe Reboot or someone else would know more?
