It's official. Simone as writer, Byrne as penciller on Action Comics: http://www.newsarama.com/DC/Superman/ActionSimone_Byrne.htm For Byrne's most recent renditions of Superman in the JLA and SUPERMAN : TRUE BRIT, check out the complete pencils to those stories in the link below: http://jbgallery.ourbunch.net/pencilscans.html Also, much of his work you will find in Byrne's online gallery of pencil scans has been drawn at his usual rate of around 2 or 3 pages a day, the same pace that will allow him to keep up with three monthly books (DOOM PATROL and BLOOD OF THE DEMON)

I love Gail but there is no way I'm touching another Byrne book. I have better things to spend my money on.

I'm not sure how happy and/or excited I'm supposed to be about this.
Love Gail's writing, but I am no advocate of modern-day Superman (or Batman) stuff, for the most part...
Byrne's art can still be a plus IF AND ONLY IF he has an adequate inker.
Feh. Color me underwhelmed. Maybe I'll try it if Gail brings back Ambush Bug.... okay, I'll admit that's the ONLY WAY I'll try it...

Here, come closer... <unwraps bandages around torso> I was a Legion fan back in the day, and then it hit. I suffered third degree Byrnes all over... <unwraps bandages on arm> Then when I was reading Spider-Man another blast erupted and I was Byrned again. Now I'm hesitant to play with matches at all... Of course, I'll still be getting it for Gail's writing, so I'll let you guys know how it is . Maybe Crucifier, who I consider to be this generation's Doctor Doom/Darkseid/Anti-Monitor, will show up

Somedays he's brilliant, somedays he phones it in. Lets see a great editor make him work it til he gets it right! Gail - no one gets it better than she does, and no one can bring new perspectives to worn out figures better. Now IF she brings Ambush Bug back in as well ... I will simply have to set up a shrine to her in the back of my dental office.
OverPower isn't dead ... it's just very, VERY dormant!

At the rate DOOM PATROL is bleeding readers, you may not have to worry about that too much longer.

Re-reading "For no better reason," Gail had good bits, but on the whole didn't overly impress me.
I can skip her Action run with Past-Prime Lad easily enough.
The childhood friend Exnihil never had.

I'm very interested to see what Gail can do on a Superman book. I love Birds of Prey and I loved Rose & Thorn and her Legion story. I don't consider Byrne's art horrible, so as long as he's not writing it could be good.

Gail rocks. I would like to see Rose and Thorn back with the same art team from the mini..I have reread that like 4 times.
Looking for Earth Prime.

For God's sake, just keep him away from the script. (For that matter, having someone else doing page breakdowns could be good as well. And maybe someone to clean up his scratchy art afterwards.)

They might not be able to, depending on the contract. But they would have been pretty stupid not to put in some kind of safeguard. The December sales figures are out, and DOOM PATROL has now slipped under 20K in sales. Still not quite in DC's cancel zone. Should the 18-issue guarantee hold, it'll be interesting to see how low figures can go.

If DOOM PATROL is guaranteed to run at least until issue #18, we could get into some scarily low spheres for a DC Universe title. If it loses 3% an issue from here on in, #18 would sell 13,830 (to put that in perspective, PAD's said Fallen Angel needs 15k to be profitable) @ -7% an issue (which is less than it's smallest drop so far, and the drops are accelerating, not falling), #18 would sell 8,703 copies. @ -8.5% an issue (the median drop once you take #1-3, which are ordered blind, out of the equation, #18 would sell 7,277 copies. @ -8.9% an issue (the mean drop for issues 4-7), #18 would sell 6,935 copies. And if it kept losing 11.5% an issue (and remember, the drops are acceleraing), #18 would sell 5,043 copies. And I could go on.... Bottom line, if I were DC, I'd start looking for loopholes in that guarantee.

Gail Simone and John Byrne OFF Action Comics "Gail and I were hired to 'fill the gap' between one team and the next," said Byrne BTW, their final-issue solicit is "Livewire, the shocking villain from Superman: The Animated Series, jumps into the DCU with deadly results as she gets amped up to take out the Man of Steel!" Now, here's the cover with said "shocking villain" on: (And here's a picture of the animated version, just to show that there's no redesign: ![[Linked Image]](http://www.batman-superman.com/superman/img/anilive.gif) ) Now, couple of pictures from PAD's YJ: I know there are only a limited no. of names, especially electrical names, but this is ridiculous...

Pov, I was going on about the sheer similarity of their looks, and having visual near-twins being called "Livewire" and "Spark". Both predate the Legion of WaKers.

That's what I'm saying. We're not going to see Livewire and Spark in continuity again, so DC felt comfortable bringing the animated Livewire into said continuity.
