The JSA has been about Legacy, and is now puting the LSH up front has the inheritors of that legacy. Which LSH member has inherited their legacy from which JSA member though? Here are my initial thoughts: Atom / Atom-Smasher / Damage ===> Colossal Boy / Micro Lad ===> Size Manipulation Black Canary ===>? ===> ? Commander Steel ===>? ===> ? Cyclone ===>? ===> ? Dr. Fate ===> White Wytch ===> Magician Dr. Mid-Nite ===> ? ===> ? Firebrand ===> Sun Boy ===> Heat Powers Flash ===> XS ===> Speed Green Lantern ===>? ===> ? Hawkman / Hawkgirl ===> DawnStar ===> Arial Tactics Hourman ===> Ultra Boy ===> Great, but limited powers Johnny Quick ===>? ===> ? Johnny Thunderbolt ===> Lighting Lad ===> Lightning Liberty Belle ===> Saturn Girl ===> Psychic abilities Miss America ===> Element Lad ===> Mater Manipulation Mr. Terrific ===> Cosmic Boy ===> Leadership / Tactics Obsidian ===> Shadow Lass ===> Darkness / Shadow Power Girl ===>? ===> ? Red Tornado ===>? ===> ? Sandman / Sand ===> Phantom Girl ===> Ability to phase through Solids Spectre ===> ? ===> ? Starman ===> Starman ===> Gravity Manipulation Star-Spangled Kid ===> ? ===> ? Superman ===> Mon El ===> Kryptonian level powers Wildcat ===> Timber Wolf ===> Close Combat Specialist How would you fill in my holes? (That came out wrong ) What changes would you make?

The original Atom had no size-manipulation powers. He gained super strength late in his run, though.
Johnny Thunder has access to more than just lightning abilities, and I don't recall Liberty Belle demonstrating much in the way of psychic abilities, unless the connection to the Liberty Bell counts.
The big problem is that the JSA had several members without any superpowers whatsoever, and several who used devices to power themselves, and the Legion allows neither.
I think the LSH will inherit the legacy of being the most important super-hero team of its time, but I don't think a member-to-member comparison really works.

I do feel that JT's link to LL is weak but their impulsiveness led me to go ahead with it. I'd love to see other suggestions. In All Star Squadron it was suggested that Libby had some level of pre cog abilities during the second year but I don't remember any thing more being done with it. Again, other suggestions are appreciated. Originally posted by Outdoor Miner: The big problem is that the JSA had several members without any superpowers whatsoever, and several who used devices to power themselves, and the Legion allows neither. Very true and I have fudged some things - Firebrand was never a member of the JSA, only the ASS and the Original Starman used his Cosmic Rod but I (and DC) have linked him to the LSH Starman anyway. This is the passing on of a legacy of heroics, not (necessarily) a literal or direct connection. Originally posted by Outdoor Miner: I think the LSH will inherit the legacy of being the most important super-hero team of its time, but I don't think a member-to-member comparison really works. I'm actually surprised at how well it does work. Vee has filled in most of my blanks quite quickly and I'm sure others will be able to make new connections as well. Again, these are not literal or direct connections, instead I am pointing out that, over a thousand years, it is similar abilities, brought together as a team, that will become the leading power for good in its time. What I'm suggesting is that it wold be VERY easy to show that the LSH got its inspiration, its design (The JSA and ASS often brought up their charters, had meetings, elections, and officers) rather than ret con Superboy back into the DCU. They can do this while building on their 'Legacy of the JSA' theme and, IMO, strengthen both the story-lines and the link between currant DCU and future DCU without limiting what can be done with the currant due to statements made in the future. By linking to the ideal that was the JSA the LSH has its inspiration, its desire for (gaudy) costumes, its need for code names, its structure, and its compulsion to do what's right for their society (the LSH could have destroyed the Public Service they so hate but recognized that society needed it at some level). Vee - Great additions (if hard to pick out try color or Bold). If we open this up to All Star Squadron membership could we bring in the rest of the LSH?

Hmmm...I did bold the names. I'll try a color if you still have a hard time picking them up.

Dr. Mid-Nite ===Night Girl===powers suited best to darkness With the whole blackout bombs thing, I'd tie him instead to Shadow Lass, whose schtick is the same, turn out the lights and beat 'em up. Interesting ideas, but I'll admit I'm a little leery of a direct correlation, as some writer might feel the need to change already established characters to firm up these sorts of connections. The last thing I'd want to read was that Night Girl is some sort of literal descendent of Midnight or something...

I'd actually pair Night Girl with Hourman, as both have super-strength, but only for a limited part of the day. Plus, at least at one point Hourman's powers were connected to blacklight technology.

Liberty Belle had sonic powers at one point before the Crisis. (I just finished reading some old All Star Squadrons.)
