Just noticed a pattern...
DC seems to have a thing for the Crisis:
- Crisis in Infinite Earths - Identity Crisis - Infinite Crisis
... and Marvel a thing for Wars...
- Secret Wars - Civil War
I wonder if there have been other instances of each using these monikers for crossover events...
I say this in full knowledge that each company has produced other crossover events with different titles (Zero Hour, House of M, and such), but that said each seems to favor a certain moniker (i.e. either Crisis or War)...
Currently getting caught up on my Legion history by reading the Post-Zero Hour Legion.

I think DC's use of the term "Crisis" harkens back to the Silver Age and the JLA/JSA team-ups. So there's a lot of history there.

Marvel had Iron Man's Armour Wars. DC has all the "Crisis on Earth 'wkhug' stuff. Kinda lets you know who is doing what, lol.

I think the introduction of 'Crisis Kid' into the Legion would assure it being the #1 selling DC title. That moniker is like gold, I tells ya!

While 'Crisis' certainly seems to be a primarily DC thing, War of the Gods, Our World at War, and the Rann-Thanagar War are all DC events!

Thats a very good point... I think really 'Crisis' applies better to DC than 'War' does to Marvel... Altough I just noticed that they're releasing 'Silent War' a limited series soon...

Does anyone think DC will republish Thomas Paine's The Crisis?

Marvel also had 'The Kree-Skrull War' and the 'Infinity War'.

I'm looking for them to do a 12-part adaptation of Supertramp's album, Crisis? What Crisis? I mean, come on, it is SUPERtramp.

The recent holiday special was actually marketed originally as "Infinite Christmas".
