GAWD, please, NO!
I cannot handle another big-ass killspree. There's nothing I'd like to see LESS than "Crisis 2"!
What's the point of it? The timeline was already "fixed" in the original Crisis. Are they going to go back to multiple earths now?

All the info out there is rumor. Some think the 'event' will be a direct sequel to Crisis on Infinite Earths. Some think it'll be a Crisis-like event. The speculation seems to be fueled by 2005's status as twentieth anniversary of the original COIE.
Geoff Johns and Phil Jimenez are the names I've seen batted about- with no confirmation or denial. A couple of other 'big' names have been mentioned, too... but just now, I don't recall who else has been speculated as participating.
The hinted-at return of Donna Troy might be linked to the 'event'. Power Girl's soon-to-be-told origin, the fallout of IDENTITY CRISIS, the 'reboots' of DOOM PATROL and the LSH all get mentioned as 'evidence'.
The same week LSH #1 hits the stands, we'll know a bit more... if the Wizard announcement turns out to be about this 'event'... as seems likely.
I suppose subscribers, or 'connected' folks might spoil the info a few days earlier.
If the creators most often mentioned in connection with this 'event' indeed *are* the ones helming it, I feel more confident about it, since I mostly trust their decisions so far.

Well, if Jimenez is working on it, Troy WILL be back if he has any say, let's face it.
ATR said a while back that it was "a character wanting their old Earth back" that sets it off. If it's Johns, I can believe this.

Wizard is the one publication that hits the stands before their subscribers. Don't know why but it sucks. In two years I have yet to receive my copy before you guys can pick it up off the newstands. In fact I'm still waiting for the latest issue with the Legion stuff to arrive.

Great....??Knowing what a disapointment Identity Crisis has become, I'm not looking forward to another "Big" Event.
And Geoff Johns books haven't been thrilling me lately. What is up with JSA lately???

Johnson: http://www.comicbookresources.com/columns/index.cgi?column=litg&article=2036 HEY, WHAT HAPPENED TO CHRISTMAS? DID I GET THAT SEINFELD DVD SET I WANTED? [Yellow Light] Remember a few months ago, Lying In The Gutters mentioned a new Crisis series for 2005 by Geoff Johns and Phil Jiminez? Well, I've just received a few more details. Trouble is they're being disputed. Let's see. I've been told the whole of the DC Universe will jump forward by a year. All the titles will have completely new setups as a result, and the new Crisis series will gradually explain what happened to leave all the characters in the state they are after the year gap. And that the first books to launch out of that will be the previously mentioned Superman by Grant Morrison and Frank Quitely in August, Batman by Jim Lee and Jeph Loeb, and Wonder Woman by Geoff Johns and Ethan Van Sciver. But despite the story being well sourced, someone else equally well sourced is throwing water over it. And not just over the possibility that the new books don't spin out of Crisis 2, but that the book is about something else entirely. Or am I just hedging my bets? Either way, definitely expect shock and awe for whatever emerges from whatever Crisis turns out to be. And expect to see DC titles dominate the charts for a fair few months.

I thought this may have related to the Ultimate DC rumours flying about the place.

Yuck. I don't think jumping a year worked well for the Legion. Too many details got lost in the transition that it ultimately hurt the series.

It's not worth the damage, confusion and untold, senseless deaths of second and third-tier characters that would come with it. I loved the multiple earths too, but it's been 20 years now. Let it be, say I.

Whatever happened to Lady Quark?
How many survivors of Earth-2 are there? Power Girl, The Huntress and who else besides the JSA?
(Yeah I know they were all rebooted to fit the modern take on continuity but in a way they're still Second Earthers)

Didn't Lady Quark join L.E.G.I.O.N. but get killed off by-and-by?
If it has to be Crisis II it would be fitting if the character who wants his/her world back was Psycho Pirate, since he still remembered the multiverse at least up through the Grant Morrison Animal Man stories.

(Yeah I know they were all rebooted to fit the modern take on continuity but in a way they're still Second Earthers) I guess it depends on your take on it. As originals, the JSA and their villains survived and were merged into the new Earth continuity (villains like Monocle, Ultra-Humanite and Rag Doll, for instance, who never had Earth-1 counterparts as far as I know). Technically, Power Girl survived Crisis, but her origin and initial induction into the JSA has been modified for continuity purposes since the original Superman has been removed from the timeline. I don't consider the current Huntress to be a survivor, or even a legacy character for that matter. I think of her as more of the "Earth-1 counterpart" of a Earth-2 character who no longer exists. Beyond that I'm not sure. The original Hawkman and Hawkgirl are still around, kinda, although the whole Hawkverse has been reincarnated and revamped so many times that I'm not certain who exactly has been Hawkman in the rebooted DCU (did Katar Hol ever exist, or was it Carter Hall who was a member of the JSA and JLA in the New U?)

Does this mean Lady Quark will be back, only to suffer again? Hasn't the poor woman suffered enough!
Those bastards!

Must disagree. I have said, often time most vehemenetly, ever since 1987 that the WORST thing to come out of Crisis was the amalgamating of all the worlds. What I said should have happened then, and what IIRC Wolfman was since declared would have been the best course, would have been for DC to simply move their post crisis focus to an new Earth, leaving the old ones intact.
I say, so that now.
Restore the mutliverse.
Bring back Earth-1 and earth-2 as places fans can relize exists and which can occasionally be re-visited. Give us back Earth-2, 3, 4, 5, S, X, and all the others.
Even give us an Earth-0, where all of the post crisis adventures took place.
But let the new Legion, the Doom Patrol, and all post Crisis2 stories take place on a whole new Earth were the basic archtypes are re-imagined ala Wiad's Legion, or Schwartz's silver age, for a new era.
Then no deaths *nned* to happen. Or, if they do happen, they are limited only to certain Earths, with other versions of the dead character still kicking around other Earths for occasional appearances.

I agree that the multiple earths should NEVER have been done away with. DC has realized it through the years, too.
That said, the biggest blows dealt by Crisis... to the JSA/Infinity Inc and to the LSH... are finally being mended.
JSA's been a top seller for years now and the Inf Inc characters have been revitalized in its pages. LSH is getting an all-new start.
Too late to bring back multiple earths.

Of course, that's Pre-Zero Hour, so it is possible to play fast & loose with what happened, if one so desired...
