Well, I got # 14, and... I didn't even read it all the way through. I am SO dropping this book from my pull list.
I hung on through the early issues, awaiting the mystery of what happened to Ron... and then he came back, in what I saw as a role that would please both Ron AND Jason fans... and then 2 issues later, Ron's dumped again.
I've had enough. I don't care anymore. There's too much else GOOD going on in the DCU for me to tolerate this crap any more.
Ron's taking over the Prof. Stein role with Jason was, IMO, the biggest chance for success the Jason/Firestorm had.
This ain't cutting it. I'm outta here.

I never even started on it. Being a major Firestorm fan from way back, this is just too disappointing to me.
Lets all pray for a fast Firestorm: Rebirth.

Like a cross between a buddy cop movie and "All of Me" but in superhero form. That might've been an interesting status quo, but alas, it wans't meant to be... (I think that was the last nail in the coffin for that series. They've definitely lost all the "buying the book to see that happens to Ronnie" readers. How long can it last now?)

I still think Stuart has plans for Ronnie or Prof. Stein.
And I think some members of the Ron-or-Gone group have rose-colored memories of FURY OF FIRESTORM.
I just re-read my dog-eared copies of FOF #1-30. And there's a good half-dozen times AT LEAST when the Prof accuses Ronnie of using their powers irresponsibly.
Ronnie was as cocky as Jason is. And Jason doesn't have the benefit of an adult literally looking over his shoulder.
I don't see the difference between Jason showing off to two women (when he and Mick merged) and Ronnie turning Felicity's clothes to soap suds.
Would I prefer a Ronnie, or Ronnie/Prof. Stein book? Sure.
But remember - the last third of the FOF run featured several incarnations of Flamehead. Because sales of the book starring Ronnie were poor.
I'm sticking around until #25. That'll give Stuart one year.

We don't have rose colored glasses, for the most part. We just wanted a continuation of the story of Ron Raymond, Firestorm.
We had a years worth of tease, a years worth of Ron being used, both good and bad, and then, we we are salivating at the mouth at the thought of our favorite character returning, we get shafted with another character coming in, glomming the name, and getting the game.
We know there were problems. Don't believe me, go to the DC boards, we are having a quite nice little set too...all mostly polite.

FIRESTORM #20
I enjoyed the couple of issues I've tried of this title, induced by IC tie-ins and the presence of Donna and Animal Man, among others. Jason's fairly likeable-- and his 'add-anybody' power is interesting. Not sure if I want to continue buying the solo-title, yet. I do hope this Firestorm ends up in either JLA or the Teen Titans, as I'd like to keep up with him.
BIG breath of relief about Animal Man surviving his encounter with the Thanagarians.
I continue to be curious about what Donna's mission is leading to.

Anyone still picking this up?
I'm actually enjoying it quite a bit OYL. Jason, Prof. Stein and Firehawk are all featured each issue and its been a blast! Plus the rest of the supporting cast has been interesting and there's a great storyline going on.
They finally got me to be a fan of a non-Ronnie Firestorm. I hope they don't cancel the title or anything! I know it doesn't sell that well...
They even brought in the Russian Firestorm and as a Russian hero, and thats cool. In fact, the very nature of the Firestorm Matrix at this point does leave the door open for Ronnie possibly returning if sales get lower. But right now I'm enjoying what's happening.

Meltzer is a fan of the 80s JLA. I wonder if FS(Ronnie) will show up there?
Personally I was a huge fan of Ronnie (and Ted Kord) since I was a kid. I never gave this series a chance. I got all HEAT (Hal Jordan) on this new take. I understand characters that have been around forever getting replaced....but Ronnie? He never really got a chance. bring him back.
