After Secret Wars, there'll be a new Squadron series written by (UGH) James Robinson. Because after he utterly torpedoed JLA (presumably with editorial help), you'd want to put him on a book of JLA analogues. I can't think of a book I'm looking forward to... less.

I intend to sample it, but this isn't the original Squadron (a good thing).

Its pretty interesting, we've got some good art and everyone wants to betray each other and is scheming.
It seems more like Crime Syndicate of America. I think a better take would be a rip off of the 12 issue mini series but more extreme where they force everyone to do their wishes because they know better.
Anyway, there is lots of drama and more foreshadowed ... including the major New Universe characters as rivals.
Its good. it checks all the boxes. I'm not rooting for anyone though.

Sorry dude. Im reading Squadron Sinister. Are there two? There's two issues out of Squadron Sinister. A couple spoilers that you might want to read before picking up the book: They dispatch the Supreme Power Squadron pretty damn quickly in the first few pages so if you're looking to read about them, this is not the book for you less importantly ... this is a new Dr Spectrum ... and Warrior Woman ... I wish they had redone the line up even more. Warrior Woman's basically the same ... Dr Spectrum mewls a lot. [video:youtube] [img][/img]

Yeah I'd heard about the Sinister mini, I prefer a heroic version. I'm a sucker for the good guys!

Well, at least it's nothing to do with the lame X-villain Mr. Sinister.

I picked up most of the Supreme Power Nighthawk issues this week.
The writing was okay, but I'm still not much of a Steve Dillon fan.

Squadron Supreme is coming! I'm assuming Amphibian, Dr Spectrum, Nighthawk, Hyperion, Thundra and Whizzer ... and that they are all from separate worlds united to save ours.

Not Whizzer but Blur from the DP7!
I haven't read much drawn by Leonard Kirk but his stuff seems ok.

I wish I knew just what version of Power Princess that's supposed to be.

I like Thundra there. Am I crazy, but I swear I've seen her as part of the SS in an old Avengers story. Either way, she seems to fit.

I, too, like Thundra there.
To my knowledge, she has never been in the Squadron Supreme before, and IIRC her only appearances in the Avengers were in the Harras/Epting Polemachus story (v.1 #358-359) and the Ordway Polemachus story (a fill-in arc during the Busiek/Perez era, I think it was just before the Ultron arc but I can't swear to it.)

Was it Thundra who died in an early scene in JLA/Avengers?

Yes, Thundra and Arkon. I didn't like JLA/Avengers for many reasons, and that's one of them.

LOL
I thought it was overplotted and overcrowded, and I disagreed with Busiek's theory that the heroes of two universes couldn't simply exist in one universe (which was the way things were in the earlier DC/Marvel crossovers, and which I actually thought was pretty cool.)

It was certainly crowded. Mind you, I imagine it would have been a lot less so if they'd published it first time round.

I've always had a sentimental spot for the Avengers' "Serpent Crown Saga", which was sort of an Avengers/JLA clash, inasmuch as it guest-starred the Squadron Supreme. George Perez drew that one, too.

I think I have some/most/all of that somewhere. I picked up lots of Perez issues at one point. I imagine I read it all out of sequence.
One of my early comics was a reprint of a Squadron Sinister story. I think. I'll have to track it down.... Actually it might be someone dressed as Nighthawk from one of the Rutland Halloween parade issues. All the villains seem to match my memory.
