I guess it's at the CBS guy's discretion?!?! shrug

Actually my CBS guy once explained to me that the variants usually cost them (the retailers) something extra beyond what they pay for the norms, but he didn't specify.

Pretty much.

I usually don't bother with variants, but I got the Superboy/Krypto one for LSH #2. Six bucks at my store.

I definitely want the variant for DCU:Legacies #5 and hope I can get it for about the same.

in my CBS days, they were same price, but a % of the store order (1 variant for every 5, 10, 20 etc); some stores marked up variants while others offered subscribers first choice. it may be different now.

I forgot about that one. How, I don't know, because it's gorgeous and I always liked the original issue.

I should try to snag that too. Thanks for the reminder!

Adventure 517
*I liked that Rokk very clearly was affected by waking up and not knowing what happened. It makes him look like a classier guy than I was fearing, from the discussion.

Legion of Super-Heroes 4
*I just read it, and I don't even remember the villains name. That's how forgettable he is.

I like Kirt's indecision. If he changed his song and dance too soon, it would seem kinda unearned. If he remained totally nutbar, it would be stale. Paul's walking a nice line, here.

Projectra needs short white hair and a rounder face. This woman could be anyone. She could be Kara Zor-El. She's not Jeckie.

OTOH, I love that she's got some sort of extra-sensory powers still. Her last few appearances have been heavy on her using her illusion powers and I was wondering if Meltzer or Johns even knew that she now had various super-senses. Whether they forgot or just never got around to showing her use them, Levitz does not let me down.

The interactions between Shady and Kirt are not displeasing me thus far. I hope the speculation (fairly common over at the DC message boards) that she's just gonna sleep with him to mess with his head are not true, and what we've seen this issue suggests that she's genuinely intrigued, and genuinely wary and wants to 'keep her enemy closer,' so to speak, not planning some sort of angry hate-sex betrayal thing.

X-Factor 208
*PAD feels like he's coasting on the 'controversy' (which, frankly, is pretty un-controversial in the 21st century) and that the story suffers for it.

Avengers Academy 3
*Remember Teen Titans 1, with action *and* teen drama? We're on issue 3, and still, drama, no action. Training sequences, IMO, are no substitute for the real deal.

I'm pretty sure that these four are the only titles I'm collecting at the moment, and Avengers Academy and X-Factor are vexing me with their dicking around aimlessly. (Agents of Atlas, if it was doing anything worth reading, would be five.)

Legion #4

Stuff Of Legend #2 (I don't know if #1 is still available anywhere. I'll have to track it down later, if finances permit.) I'm very intrigued with it, and I may write a mini-review later if I can pull my thoughts together.

Anyone who picks up the first issues of Wolverine, X-23 and Uncanny X-Force, please review and post your thoughts! All three have good writers (Jason Aaron, Marjorie Lui and Rick Remender) and have piqued my curiosity, yet all three are also three X-concepts I'm most likely *not* to buy. A good or bad review could help my decision.

Arachne, I thought of you on X-23 because I know you like Lui's work and are more in tune with what's good in the X-world.

I got the latest X-Factor and Avengers: Children's Crusade 2 today, but, like a ninny, I forgot to pick up Adventure 518.

Grr. Gotta go back for that one...

All that discussion about The Losers in the Legacies thread inspired me to buy their one-shot that came out this week.

I was avoiding those War Specials because of their exorbitant price but I thought the timing of this one was so serendipitous I had to grab it.

Did anyone else pick it up? I'll do a review for it in the random review thread once I've read it.
