Urgh... I'm tempted to add it to my pull list, if only because otherwise my comic book place might not even get it... but is it going to be worth while? Idk... there's something about team-up titles, that I like and its so tempting... Also for anyone wondering this is a new (really old) DC title being re-launched in February. -------- EDIT --------------- Here the solits for #1-2, as seen on DCs website... - The Brave and the Bold #1 ( http://www.dccomics.com/comics/?cm=6795 ) Written by Mark Waid; Art by George Pérez and Bob Wiacek; Covers by Pérez The greatest team-up title of all time is back! A proud DC tradition is restored as writer Mark Waid (52, SUPERGIRL AND THE LEGION OF SUPER-HEROES) and legendary artists George Pérez (THE NEW TEEN TITANS, CRISIS ON INFINITE EARTHS) and Bob Wiacek (ORION) put Batman and Green Lantern on the trail of what could be the greatest weapon in the DCU! The trail leads to Ventura, the gambling planet…wanna bet what'll happen if they don't get their hands on the weapon? This issue will feature two covers by George Pérez, Cover A spotlights Batman; Cover B spotlights Green Lantern! - The Brave and the Bold #2 ( http://www.dccomics.com/comics/?cm=6948 ) Written by Mark Waid; Art by George Pérez and Bob Wiacek; Covers by Pérez Green Lantern and Supergirl are off to Ventura on the trail of the bizarre case that began in issue #1! Ventura is a planetwide casino, which would be wild enough, but it has also become a backdrop for the Rann-Thanagar War! Guest-starring Batman and Blue Beetle!

I've got it on my pull list as well.
The Perez art alone will probably make it worthwhile.

I'm definitely picking up the first two since it features Green Lantern. I'll decide after that if it's going on my pull list.

GL & GLC are 2 of the only books I buy from DC these days. And I love Perez' art. That said, after thinking it over, I decided to give it a pass-- because I just can't stand Batman anymore. Even if they've "fixed" him, I just don't care anymore...

I'm somewhat skeptical of the whole concept of this, actually. I mean, teamup titles were really cool when you didn't have guest stars showing up in one another's books every other month. Now... I'm not entirely sure what the big attraction of this book is supposed to be.

Well there is an attraction if you're not willing to caugh up cash for say 10 titles and still want to get a taste of the DC universe as a whole... which is why its gotten my attention...
That being said I think the title could find its very own niche, but yeah I hear the point its not the same as it would have been in the past.

The way George Perez discribed it in San Diego makes me want to read it.

I'll buy it if only for the gorgeous George Perez art. Hal Jordan isn't one of my favs any more, but I won't let that stop me

Yep... its been added to my pull list... Won't hurt to try it out...
Hal Jordan isn't one of my favorites either... which is why I'm reading GLC and not GL, but w/ Batman and Supergirl in the first two issues that should not be a problem.

As long as George is on board and we get at least passable stories, I'll be along for the ride. He's one of the last of the "Great Ones" and I won't miss anything he does.

So Hal is the central character instead of Batman? Hmmm. That opens the title out a lot more in terms of available story lines and locations - and as Cru and Vee have both said - it has George Perez.
I'll definately give this a try.

I just thought, this will be the chance for George to do his (much anticipated) Legion story...that is if this version of The Legion is considered part of the DC universe.

WWC - I think the format will be hero#1 (Batman) guest stars with hero#2 (Green Lantern) in issue #1, then hero#2 (Green Lantern) guest stars with hero#3 (Supergirl) in issue #2, then hero#3 (Supergirl) guests stars with hero#4 (?) in issue #3 and so on. So kind've like a revolving door of super-heroes. I quite like the idea personally.
As for the series itself - I have to get it, if for no other reason than a nostaligic one. The Brave and the Bold series #1 was one of my favourite series of all when I was first getting into comics and it still holds a special place in my heart now.
I completely agree with Eric though that the impact of a book like this has been severely deadened in recent years because of the endless character guest-starring and crossovers that go on in books.
Despite that though, I have a feeling that this could be the book to watch next year, the one that BIG things happen in that affect the DCU and other books and forgotten characters get a chance to shine - a bit like Superman / Batman was when it first started.

Thanks Blacula. The revolving cast is a very interesting idea. Like you said it will give under exposed characters a chance in the spotlight. Also, I wonder if the stories will flow into one another - which will give the series a feeling of continuity. I think the changing roster is a bit of a double edged sword though. There will be no regular character so that may be a problem in reader loyalty. On the other hand people might want to pick up a book they can use as a "primer" for the DCU. Hmmm. I'm not too sure about the longivity of this book. I'll give it a try and hope it does well.

Hmm, I hadn't realized that's how they were going to handle the appearances. Sounds interesting.

Okay, so #1 is out, and I thought it was definitely worth it, especially considering I almost decided not to pick it up.
There's a possible Legion connection in the first issue as well, with a character who may be a Carggite.

There's more than one Legion connection....Ventura is a planet in Legion mythos and it not only gets mentioned prominently here, it appears to be the setting for issue #2 next month.
As far as this particular issue. I really liked it. The Perez artwork of course is simply fantastic. I thought some of the verbal interplay between GL and Bats was great.
I'll definitely be picking it up for the next few issues and then will decide if I make it a permanent addition to the pull list.

I liked the issue, too. It always fascinates me how Waid writes Hal (compared to Geoff). This time I think he was sort of a middle ground between the Flash/GL: B&B miniseries and Johns' take. I (not a Hal fan) dug it. Anyway, I did enjoy quite a bit of the issue, though there were one or two dialogue moments that really didn't work for me. Especially Bruce's comment about Barry. That made me totally sad. Still, I'm pretty psyched for next issue. I'm pretty curious to see how Waid handles Kara in the DCU proper as opposed to Kara with the Legion. (I'm sort of hoping there will be some kind of explanation about wtf is up with her personality transplant, too.)

I liked the first issue well enough, but the script reminded me of team ups in the 70's or 80's -- heroes being plugged into a story contrived to get them together, then chugs along to contrive the next team-up. Not necessarily a bad thing, but it was a light read and I wonder how involved i'm going to be able to get into the stories with random heroes popping in and out. This first arc doesn't particularly interest me yet but maybe next month will draw me in more.
I also wondered if "Drake" might've been a Carggite, but I don't remember if injuries transfer across all duplicates with Triplicate Girl...

This was pretty good. I think I enjoyed the sequence with Bruce and Hal in the Casino most of all. Bring on Ventura and the luck lords.
Although the multiple man has the same powers as Waid's updated Lu I don't think her other bodies are hurt when one is hurt. However she was shown healing when she was merged. Still she could be some sort of experiment I suppose.

I wondered if it might be only fatal injuries that are carried over to other bodies, but that doesn't really make a whole lot of sense.

Previews of #2 on Newsarama I'm *not* digging the way Waid is writing Supergirl.

Yeah, Mark's Supergirl is a bit too teeny-bopper in this issue. I did notice a familiarly named machine from Legion history mentioned on page 6...

The really annoying thing is that it's pretty clearly a middle-aged guy's version of what a teeny-bopper sounds like...
