I recall the issues, but they're neither handy, nor in memory.
one team was the Dreamers, I believe. presumably of Naltor.

Sheesh, is that all we've got? All right, then.
Thom's team was indeed the Naltor Dreamers, and we saw them play against the Winath Jaybirds (during the Legion reunion in LSH Annual 3) and against the Toonar Pilots for the championship.
Kent, you take the next one.

What do XS, Thunder and Dawnstar have in common, other than being female Legionnaires?

no takers?
okay then...
Name all the known UP presidents (those contemporary with the Legion, that is).
Previous A, BTW: they have all time traveled using means not available to other (non-Kryptonian) Legionnaires.

When did Dawnstar time-travel without a time bubble or the like? Are you referring to the Harbinger/Monitor kidnaping her at the beginning of Crisis on Infinite Earths?

No. To the Legion's 1st DCCP appearance, where Dawny intercepts Supes in space and leads him into the future to see the destiny of the planet Nyvrn (or however its spelled)... but the Monitor/Harbinger kidnapping could count, too.

I could swear the Legionnaires (and, I'd assume, Dawnstar) used a time bubble in that issue.

they probably did at the outset and finale, but she and Supes had a part of the story just to themselves, as I recall; she surprises Kal by leading him into the future sans bubble.

UP Presidents: I know RJ Brande, President Chu, Winema Wazzo... But pre-Crisis I only know Earth Presidents and I don't think they quite count do they?

Sorry to interrupt, but I thought it was appropriate to post this here. My latest blog post http://legionabstract.blogspot.com/2008/03/challenge.html is something of a trivia question, if anyone wants to play.

since no one's guessing my last question and I've lost interest in asking a third one, I'll leave it open for anyone else to ask a new one.

That's good enough; three out of four (Leland MacCauley/Ra's al Ghul was the 4th). Pre-C, Earth Prezes were not shown to be UP prezes; King Jonn in TMK was shown leading the UP but not referred to as Prez that I can recall (even if he was, IBby still has 3 out of 5, enough to still win). Go, IB!

Pre-crisis, I remember Kandru, Boltax, Allon, and Vid-Gupta, I think. That's from memory - can anyone confirm/flame my list?
IB, where are you?

those were all Earth presidents, Lance, not UP presidents. it was a trick question.
I'll PM IBby; if he doesn't get back to us by Monday, I'd say Lance would get next question.

Thanks, sorry for the delay.
Hm...
I'm two weeks away from finals, so I'll be pretty busy. No need to wait for confirmation on this question!
Who was the first Substitute Hero to be offered membership in the Legion of Superheroes?

Stone Boy if you mean active Substitutes offered membership in the main Legion. Cosmic Boy if you're tricky and point out that he was later a member of the Substitutes. Star Boy if you're even trickier and point out that while Cosmic Boy was later a Sub, he was never really *offerred* membership in the main Legion, as he was a founding member. I think that should be sufficient.

Kent, I wasn't trying to answer your question; rather, I was trying to name the Earth presidents and keep some interest in this thread alive.

Next question: Who was the first Legionnaire to loose his powers, and how did he get them back?

You're very close in issue number, but wrong Legionnaire!
Er... it also occurred to me that there's another possible answer, but I'm going for the more obvious one!

That would be Sun Boy, in Adv 302. aptly titled "Sun Boys Lost Power".
After in vain trying to recharge himself with Superboys and Ultraboys heatvision, he turns to a Kryptonian Flame-Beast (which is, opposed to SB to UB, a living creature, at least that's the story's logic)
Hit the mark?

That's it. The SB and UB in the story were robots, which is why they couldn't recharge Dirk's powers. That story also made Sun Boy the correct answer to "Name the first Legionnaire to be expelled".
Urthlo also "turned off" the powers of nearly all Legionnaires present in Adv. 300, but that seems to be more a matter of his preventing them from being able to use them than their losing them.

Oh Boy, my turn then.
Hope this hasn't been asked before: Who was responsible for unleashing a Sun Eater on Earth in the 20th Century - and who "sacrified" himself to get rid of him? (I'm thinking pre-ZH here)
