IF

YOU

DON'T

TO

KNOW

YET

DON'T

LOOK!

LSH #1 page 12 with dialogue about Daxam, Dryad and Lallor

What's this? Legion activity is outlawed on Daxam?
So does this mean that Laurel and Lar (if they show up) are going to be criminals by default? Oh the anguish!

Very clever Mr. Mark Waid, with a single exchange of dialogue we find out there won't be super powerhouse on the team right away but along with that we find out that there IS a possibility of seeing Blok again.
Sort of a good news/bad news scenario, eh?

Nice salute they've added. Now we've got a great nerdy greeting whenever we meet.

Could Drura be one of the three involved in finding the cure for that Braxxian virus? I'm sure we haven't hear the last of Daxam.

If every page is like this, the speculation index should be running pretty high around here.

I hope we get back Mon-El/M'Onel/Valor or whatever, with his one-thousand-years-of-solitude background, and that he turns out to be a figure more relevant than in the last years arcs, especially when 20th century threats such as R'as or Darkseid show up. Lar should also serve as inspiration in times of particular distress, like when fighting Mordru or extreme menaces.

Ditto, ditto, ditto, & ditto! laugh

I wonder if this time Lar Gand will be named Marvel Lad. Fits the Lad/Boy/Girl/Lass "rule" we've seen in the previews and is a definite salute to the Adventure era.

I would absolutely want it to be a Lar that has spent 1000 years in the PHANTOM Zone (not Stasis, Buffer, or anything else laugh ) as terrible as that may sound.

His "solitary" confinement in the Zone had much to do with shaping his personality and demeanor and the inherent sadness in his soul. He shouldn't be seen as a deity but he could be an inspiration to the Legion as one of the super heroes of the past that they are emulating.

Perhaps one of their major goals during this first year could be to discover whether or not there really was a Marvel Lad, a Daxamite hero that came to Earth and (according to legend) was somehow trapped in the Phantom Zone, with a secondary goal of freeing him if the legend turns out to be true.

That would be a great way of bringing Lar back into the Legion fold amd would provide the "big event" to wrap up the first year of the new LSH. ( I believe that Waid and Barry have implied Lar won't be brought back until after the first year or so.)

Just random speculation from a huge Mon-El fan (note the spelling! laugh )

"Hey Jim! Get Mon out of the Zone!! And...when do we get Condo back?"

Oh. My. God.

Not to give too much away, but it looks like one of our fellow Legion Worlders was ahead of the game here.....

Vee, that's a wonderful idea. I know Mark and Barry said they don't want to rehash old stories but that's a back-story that really needs fixing.
Unless "the big event" at DC retcons Valor out of continuity then that would be a 'marvelous' approach to telling Lar Gand's tale.

or that Lar and Laurel Gand would be the Daxamites fugitives running away and putting on the disguise as Marvel Lad and Marvel Lass (or Sir Prize and Miss Terious? or Legionnaire Lemon and Legionnaire Lemonade?)???

"Marvel Lad"... yes that sounds consistent with Waid's approach and in general with his "silver age" nostalgia.

Exactly, this is a role that would fit Lar a lot.
Having withstood all the discomfort and solitude for one thousand years, he should also become a sympathetic but taciturn figure legionnaires would refer to in situations of particular distress

This would be interesting. Waid was behind the big "Three Valors saga" developments in DOA/End of an Era, during the Valor series, so it seems he has a feeling for the character (hopefully a good feeling!!). Who knows, he might even decide Marvel Lad to get the name "Mon-El" which means "He who wanders" in ancient Kryptonian smile
