Said Rice Terraces of the Philippine Cordilleras were, through successful conservation management, removed from the list of World Heritage Sites in Danger in 2012. They were first placed on the Danger list in 2001.

I just watched the preview of a forthcoming zombie flick called "Warm Bodies" over at dailymotion.com.

The Obando Fertility Rites are held in the Philippine town of Obando, Bulacan every May. Men and women wear traditional costumes and dance in the streets to pray for a husband, wife or child.

Since the Friday before this most recent, I've worked in a bottling plant and at a logistics company (sorting and inspecting exports destined for Singapore).

The "traditional costume" for men in the Philippines is the Barong Tagalog.

We have had so much snow here this year a few enterprising underemployed folk have started a business of shoveling snow from roofs.

Looking in the mirror this morning, I was taken aback by how much I am beginning to resemble the Goblin King from Peter Jackson's The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey.



And it was not that long ago that I imagined I somewhat resembled the Goblin King from Labyrinth.

This is a funny site It has screen shots of people's Facebook posts where they think that an article in the Onion is true. The really funny ones, IMHO, are the ones where someone tells them that it is the Onion and therefore nor real, but the person still thinks it is real.

I have an inordinate affection for the writing of bylaws and policies. I hate them because they're a necessary evil, but I enjoy figuring out what needs to be said and how to say it.

From wikipedia: Mount Pulag (or sometimes Mount Pulog) is the third highest mountain in the Philippines. It is Luzon’s highest peak at 2,922 meters above sea level. The mountain hosts 528 documented plant species. Among its native wildlife are 33 bird species and several threatened mammals such as the Philippine Deer, Giant Bushy-Tailed Cloud Rat (“bowet”) and the Long-Haired Fruit Bat. Mount Pulag is the only place that hosts the 4 Cloud Rat species.

Tourists love climbing it for the sea of clouds at the summit.

Toledo has four teams ranked in the top ten in Ohio basketball and we're not that big. Well actually we are big. We supposedly have the most restaurants per capita in the known world or close to it. Many chain restaurants use us as a testing ground for new menu items.

"We" have HUGE butts. I don't. But generally everyone else does.

It is a heavy wet snow falling now in the Blizzard of 2013. This is the type of snow you have to be careful shoveling or you could hurt your back or give yourself a heart attack.

I just shoveled some now and will shovel some more before bed. Shoveling a few inches at a time is better than trying to shovel a foot or more all at once.
