Some people are like slinkys: not really good for anything, but they bring a smile to your face when you knock them down a flight of stairs

Thanks everyone! I really love all the zombies hanging around. Gives me a quick smile.
Wish I could say it was a good birthday but I spent most of it in the doctors office. Don't quite like the news but I'll wait to hear the full results on Wednesday. But I did have some fun, got a couple of new games for my X-Box 360, which I'm about to boot up. I may toss an older one in though, just for the zombies. Been awhile since I played some Dead Rising.

doctor's office? don't like the news? dude! you deserve an extra day of birthday celebration.
...but you don't have a moment where you're sitting there staring at a table full of twenty-five characters with little name signs that say, "Hi, my superpower is confusing you!"

Happy belated birthday, Scott. We have some leftover Lightning McQueen plates and napkins from my three-year-old's birthday party this weekend. Just say the word and there yours.

Thanks again everyone. Figured I'd post this news here since it is where I briefly mentioned my doctors visit. I have diabetes. Fortunately it has been caught early enough, even though I try to avoid the dr. at all costs, and can be treated with the oral pill they currently have. On top of that and what I was told was more life threatening for the immediate future was my blood pressure. Not just high but "you can have a stroke at any second" high. Stage 2 for those that know about the disease, high triple digits on my Systolic and low triple digits on the Diastolic. The doc was so worried about the bp that he wanted me to let Caroline do the driving for awhile. I convinced him that if he wanted me to have a stroke that would do it. So I have to make some drastic changes in my lifestyle. The blood pressure meds are a specific type to try to bring it under control quickly and not adversely affect the diabetes meds. I'm monitoring the bp a few times a day and trying to avoid extremely stressful situations until it is brought down. Even at rest the best I can currently manage is a 160/99. My love of Dr. Pepper has to be tamed and I decided to quit the real stuff immediately. I'm trying to drink the diet for now. Got no one to blame but myself. High salt, high fat, high carb diet with very little exercise. Three years ago I was able to get around SDCC without too many problems even though I was quite heavy then. But now, three years later, I weigh over 75 lbs more and know that I couldn't make it up the steps to the convention center let alone walk around all day. Anyway enough of that. I'm going to work on my blood pressure, get my weight done and keep my diabetes under control so next year for the Legion's 50th Anniversary I can walk everyone else into the ground! Thanks for letting me get this off my chest. Just thought I'd add this note. I know blood pressure avoidance killed my mom before she was 55 and 32 years later realize that it was a contributing factor in my father's death before he was 51. I'm not going to ignore this like they did. And I hope anyone else out there who is a candidate for high blood pressure does something about it. It is very treatable and if taking meds and watching my diet for the rest of my life lets me live a longer, more enjoyable one, then I'm all for it.

Wow. That's rough. Best of luck dealing with your health issues, Scott. I've had to change my diet recently because my cholesterol was skyrocketing, so I can relate to an extent.

Scott- I'm really glad you got yourself checked out. Diabetes is scary but I have faith you'll learn to manage the symptoms - you're a smart guy and you've got a whole world here on your side. You might have to lay of the zombie games to keep the stress down- at any rate zombies give me zombie invasion nightmares. Also, I seemed to have dreamed I posted a birthday wish but it seems I did not. Well- have another happy day, on the house.

Sorry to hear about your diabetes, Scott, but it is good news that they caught it in the early stages.
My father was borderline diabetic for many years, but he managed to lead a relatively healthy and productive life. He even found a new type of candy: sugar-free chocolates at Mr. Bulky's.
