I still can't believe I turned 49 today. I mean next year it's the big 5-0. I remember I used to think that was so OLD, and now it's like, hell I only feel about 25 inside so how can this be happening? To rub in the fact, this was the year I had to renew my driver license complete with a new photo. So of course I wait until the last possible hour of the last day to get it done. I will have to post a photo. Went to the DMV with a fresh red dye job and make-up on. Oh, and a sequined tunic and a thick necklace of faux-gold with a big 'disco ball' of rhinestones on it. I wanted to look fabulous for my last photo document in my 40's.... LOL. It made me feel better when the official taking the photo looked at me and looked at my paperwork and said I didn't look anywhere near 49.... Yay! I could've kissed him.
On the downside, Scott's best friend at work, Russ and his wife Tamara are in deep crisis. Tamara's mother came down with pneumonia just a few days ago and already she has been placed on a respirator and is failing. They only give her a 25% chance to last through the night. Russ has been texting Scott just about hourly all day. This is so sad, and so eerily mirrors the horror of my Mother's passing. This would be bad enough, but earlier in the year Tamara lost her sister to complications from diabetic organ failure and a brother-in-law in a car accident.
Compared to their suffering, my problems are slight. We all need to think positively and focus on making 2009 the best it possibly can be for each and every one of us!!!!
