Somehow I can't help but feel that this is some sort of turning point in my fandom life. I didn't even blink. I just turned to my coworker and said "Oh, hold on, lemme just get my Omnicom".
Their face was outstandingly priceless. Surely I'm not the ONLY Legion fan to ever call their smartphone that, right??

That absolutely rules! Now... if you start referring to your Bluetooth headset as a "telepathic earplug"... well...

I've used "sprock" and "nass" out loud before, too. Thankfully "sprock" rhymes with something else... Anyone else here wanna start referring to our cars as cruisers?

I'm not smart enough for a smart phone. I finally caved and bought the 9.99 un-smart version about seven months ago, but even that is frequently too complicated for me. (The only way you'll ever get me to text is at gunpoint, for instance.) When I started writing Legion fic again after a million-year hiatus, I didn't remember the term Omnicom. If indeed I ever knew it. I hadn't ever given the 5YG stories more than a cursory glance until about 3.5 years ago. When I wanted a term for hand-held computer devices, I used "field unit," which I cribbed from an entirely different comic. I should probably do one of those emergency search-and-replace things one of these days just to get the more Legion-y term in there-- even though I was only writing in the animated-verse.
Hey, Kids! My "Cranky and Kitschy" collage art is now viewable on DeviantArt! Drop by and tell me that I sent you. *updated often!*

The search function is having issues just now, but I seem to recall a thread here around the time the iPhone came on the market comparing it to an Omnicom.
The only character in all of literature who has been described as "badnass" while using the phrase "vile miscreant."

So what functions does an Omnicom have that a smartphone doesn't?
(For that matter what functions does an Omnicom have?)
