Okay the weirdest, preordained thing happened. I was just about ready to walk out the front door after I had finally had enough of my stupid parents and their stupid marital problems, when there was a man at the front door. He was a chinese food deliveryman and he wasn't sure if he had the right house. I had to direct him to the other side of the house, to the door leading to my tenant's basement apartment.

Sorry that your parents are having problems, Sarcasm Kid, but how was this encounter preordained?

There was a man outside my front door just as I was about to leave.
I don't know if preordained was the right word, but I take it as a statement that the big man upstairs doesn't want me to leave.

Oh, OK. Stick it out. Maybe your parents need you more than you realize.

I've had to deal with this for a month. I haven't been able to finish any one of the stories I promised. It's hard being the sane one, the one who makes sense, but I take it now that I can't leave.

If you're the sane one, then you're needed whether your parents realize it or not. God go with you.

I've been daydreaming about taking wayward LMB-ers out for Chinese food on Xmas day. Yeah, I know it's unworkable but I can't help myself. I enjoy mr_cleome's company, of course. But Chinese food is always better with a big crowd.

Well, it's continuing to get worse, and with my birthday Friday I'm gonna have to worry more about any confrontations between my mother and my insane aunt. Although my creativity block has started to disappear.

Your birthday is Christmas, SK? Happy birthday.
Do you find that your family gives you something to write about or escape from through writing, or both?

No, it's just hard to concentrate when I worry about them. I could barely do any of the reading homework I was assigned during this thing, and God knows the fact that it was finals did not make anything easier.
I don't write to escape. I write because I enjoy writing and because I want to entertain people with my ideas. I started writing long before these problems finally came to a head. If anything helps me escape its comics. If it wasn't for the comics I would've gone insane halfway through this whole "lifetime" event my family is going through.

That's tough, SK.
I don't know what you're going through, but all I can say is that families are meant to drive us nuts. But they are also something we miss when we're removed from it. Good luck.

I can't hear hair metal on the radio at work without thinking of The Guv'na.
And hearing Slade at work makes me think of Kent and Stealth.

Sadly, hair metal is about the only kind they play. It was the best I could do.
