THE RULES:

1) THE BASIC IDEA: Post to this thread, if no one posts after you for 24 hours, you win!

2) Posts that are not direct responses to one of the five preceding posts are ineligible to win. The topic can drift, but no complete non-sequiturs. Posts that are responses to non- sequiturs are also ineligible to win; however, posts that are responses to responses to non-sequiturs, and responses to those posts, etc., become eligible.

3) In the event that this thread is locked, there shall be no winner unless a new thread is started for the contest. Furthermore, any post that results in the banning of the poster shall also be ineligible to win.

4) So, more precisely, one wins if one makes a post, and then no one makes another post that's eligible to win for 24 hours.

Incidentally, is there some kind of rule stipulating that all the previous winners get to be notified by email that a new thread's starting? (Also, we need a comprehensive list of all previous winners, don't we?)

no such rule. Rocky's here; he won the last two or so.

I totally want to see all the former champions show up and duke it out for supremacy. It can be like our own version of Titans Vs. X-Men or something.

Maybe Round 10 can be an all-champs competition. We'll need to lure walkingwithcrowds back, of course, as the very first winner (IIRC)

This is true. I've attempted to kill it several times with the Dewey Decimal Classification System.

My only alt is Time-Teller Lad and he's probably as close as we have to an actuary around here.

"Chance" is feminine in French, so it's "bonne chance".

Chance Falconer was the main character of a wonderful Image series called Leave it to Chance. Imagine the adventures of daughter of a Dr. Strange! Fun stuff.

I've never been a particular fan of Leave It to Beaver. It always seemed forced and dated. I Love Lucy, on the other hand, though hardly perfect and often sexist, is hilarious overall.

Years ago I worked in a museum that was showing a film about beavers. They had buttons printed up saying that people should "see beavers" in the museum's theatre. I decided to hold out for a film called "Snakes".

Leslie Neilson: "Hey! Nice beaver!"

At one time "Leslie" was much more common as a men's name. At one time, the women's name would have been more likely to be spelled "Lesley". Now, it's more common as a woman's name, at least in the United States.

The name "Robin", is another that has switched its "gender", if you will, but mostly only in the United States. Other than Robin Williams, I'm hard pressed to think of an American man with that name, but I've heard of many Canadian and British men with that name.
