1399 - The Teutonic Hochmeister Konrad von Juningen (1394-1407) encouraged the Grand Duke Vitautas to wage war against the Golden Horde to the East. He assembled a great army of Lithuanian and Ruthenian Boyars along with exiled Tartar Khan (Lord), Toktamish and 500 Teutonic Knights. Edegey Khan (Lord) slaughtered 2/3 of Vitautas army pursuing him mercilessly over the steppes.

1385 - Battle of Aljubarrota. Crown of Castile (allies Aragon, France and Italy) vs. Portugal (allied with the British). The Portuguese enjoyed a decisive victory and thwarted Castilian designs for the throne.
Portugal still exists as an independent state, while Castile would enter into a union with Aragon and be formally abolished in the 18th Century.

1384 - Jadwiga is crowned King of Poland, though she is a woman. "King" was chosen to reflect that she was an independent sovereign and not just a royal consort; it had nothing to do with her sex, you sillies!
She also happens to be a Saint.
