1419 - The First Defenestration of Prague occurs. A mob of radical Czech Hussites is incited to violence when town council members refuse to exchange their Hussite prisoners. While marching, a stone is thrown from the town hall window at the mob leader; the mob is so angered that they storm the town hall and throw the judge and several council members out of the windows.

1411 - Battle of Harlaw, one of the bloodiest battles in Scotland, takes place. The battle was fought to resolve competing claims to the Earldom of Ross, a large region of northern Scotland. The ferocity of the battle gave it the nickname "Red Harlaw". It is commemorated by a 40 foot (12 m) high memorial on the battlefield near the town of Inverurie, supposedly by the church at Chapel of Garioch, and by ballads and music.

1409 - Council of Pisa selects Petros Philargi as Pope Alexander V. The Pope was elected because of his efforts in ending the schism of the Roman Catholic Church - his election also deposed Popes Gregory XII and Benedict XIII. Unfortunately, neither of the other two were willing to step down, resulting in THREE popes.
Alexander V received wider support than the other 2, partly due to his reputation. However, he only ruled 10 months before dying suddenly. The Vatican has not made any official pronouncements on whether he is considered a true pope.
