I'm cutting my pull list way down because I realized recently that I'm not enjoying a number of my titles. I'm not jaded on comics per se, but haven't found the storytelling and/or art on most of the "old reliables" to be that compelling lately.

Right now, I'm only getting Legion and JSA, plus some assorted minis (e.g., Final Crisis) and a bunch of independents.

to tell you the truth i've stopped collecting and reading comic books. both Marvel and DC have truly left me as a faithful reader disappointed and i've sworn for a long time after DC started bringing all their silver-age characters back to life if Barry Allen returns i'll stop reading DC and all Comics together. so with the exception of the Dark Horse Star Wars books: KoToR and Legacy, and some TPS of books i've missed and when the current run of the Legion ends and after Legion of 3 worlds is over i'm finished for a while,.unless something comes out that might draw me back in,..now i don't think i'm giving comcis up totally,..just gonna collect TPS for now, besides the money that i usually would use for comic book buying i can save it put to something more useful. (still thinking of moving.) but for now i'm done.

I stopped reading any new stuff a few years ago ... once was the time that in times of stress, I could immerse myself in comic-ania and feel better, but now I just get further disillusioned ... still love the characters ... still love the stories of old ... still waiting for something to come along that remind me of why I fell in love with comics to begin with ...

sigh

Honestly, since a comic shop finally opened near me 8 years after my original CBS closed, I've rediscovered my excitement for comics! I read these boards and other sites for recommendations and I've yet to be disappointed in any comic I've given a try based on them! Yeah, I tend to read mostly comics that are more self-contained, and possibly in danger of cancellation as a result, but there seems to be an abundance of good stuff out there.

I mean, yeah, there's not much going on of interest with the very biggest titles and icons, but I haven't had to look really hard for inspiration. I'll post my current pull-list on Gym'll's soon, and y'all can let me know what you think!

(I mean, god, if any of you haven't picked up The Walking Dead trades, that's a phenomenal place to start!)

I've been dissillussioned for some time with DC Comics, and Marvel to a lesser extent, so I've made waves into other independent companies to try and find that undiscernable "it" factor that I seek in my comics.

The Walking Dead is a good one. So is Mice Templar and the best might be Umbrella Academy.

But I'm still looking each time I go to the comic book store.

I'm finding novels much more satisfying than comics these days.

I stopped reading any comic except Legion of Super Heroes years ago. I still buy LSH, but often it will sit for weeks before I read it. However, I just read part one of the Legion of 3 Worlds and I'm excited (and not because of a vibro-chair or anything). This was good old story telling.

I still enjoy reading comic books, but get the feeling that very few comic book fans really enjoy the experience any more. Strange time.

Ditto. Waid lost me but I stuck with it out of love for Barry's stuff. I've just been buying out of inertia since he left. Is that sad?

There's plenty of books I love... ATOMIC ROBO, Umbrella Academy, Fables, Cap... TWD in HC trades.

Also, for self-contained, non-superhero books--I'm REALLY enjoying Ed Brubaker's Criminal! If you like noir and shady characters, that one can't be beat!

And the individual issues (i.e., not the trades) have great articles in the back! I'm thinking of subscribing to Hard Case Crime's (prose) book-of-the-month club based on one recent article. Sounds like a good way to get more of a regular pulp/noir fix that I'm really enjoying.

Also, Brubaker's Sleeper is IMO his best work to date, combining the pulp, noir, spy and superhero genres most effectively. It's a complete story collected in 4 affordable trades!
