Thank you all you wonderful people! Love the pics, the poem and all the good wishes. We already have a very good chainsaw so this was my present. He's a real handsome bruiser, and it looks like he could flatten the dog with one swipe. Maine Coons are hard to find around here and I refuse to pay $800 for a pedigree cat anyways. Mr. C. has been scanning the shelters for a while and was overjoyed to find this mix. We renamed him Tusket (a river down by Yarmouth) and he's camped out behind the washing machine for now.

We made it through the first night with nothing broken, mostly because the other three cats stayed outside.
It's probably the first time in my life I couldn't finish my slab of birthday cake, just too darn hot for something so sweet.
