Hi, My Name is Violet Green, I just joined a couple days ago, I'm Dave Hackett's daughter, I'm 18 and a half, and I have been reading the legion since I was four. My dad used to read the original 60's stuff as bedtime stories and when I was old enough I started reading volume after volume after volume. My favourite character is Brainy, followed by in no particular order Super girl, XS, Post-Zero hour Lyle Norg, Saturn Girl, karate kid, Spark/light lass, Chameleon boy, mon-el, and Super boy. But I really love all the characters. Outside of the Legion I love to write, world build, sketch, play the sims 3, cook/bake, and read. I'm really excited that the Legion is back on the shelves, and I have high hopes that Season 6 of CW's Supergirl may get some more legion action before it ends. (Does anyone else now why issue #1 had invisible kid introduce himself as Lyle Norg, but than they changed it to Jacques Foccart, and now reprints of issue one have it as Jacques as well.)

Welcome Ivy/Violet!
You have a wonderful grounding in Legion history.
I don't think any of us can figure out why one issue had Lyle and later ones Jacques, if it was intentional or an editorial goof. If the reprints changed it to Jacques, it must have just been a mistake.

Welcome, Ivy/Violet! Good to have you aboard. I love your avatar choice (Kinetix is and always will be my favorite). I like many of your faves too. I encourage you to jump in and share some of your work, the Bits part of the forum has a lot of work from fans.

@Invisible Brainiac, Thank you, about the Bits, I actually have two legion stories I have written, but Its technically fanfiction, is that what the Bits is for? @Eryk Davis Ester, Thank you for the welcome, It would be really cool if I could say I was the first second generation, I hope its true. @Fat Cramer, thank you for the warm welcome and for your thoughts on the Lyle/Jacques debacle.

Welcome, Ivy! Yeah, Bits is for fanfic/art, generally anything creative along those lines....it's a pretty diverse forum, a bunch of us have separate threads for our own individual fanfic series using different incarnations of the Legion but people also post one-off stories, tag team writing threads etc...pretty much anything about the Legion of Superheroes is welcome in there (and even that's not a hard and fast rule, you'll probably notice occasionally some non-Legion comic characters have snuck in there) I saw you posted a story, I am gonna check it out tonight after work!

Hi, Ivy! Is your choice of username related to the 5 Years Later Legionnaire of the same name? (I'm guessing not because the pic of Kinetix you use resembles Poison Ivy.) Anyhow, I'm a long-time poster here, who was previously known as Lard Lad. Er, don't believe anything dad tells ya about ol' Lardy....
Still "Lardy" to my friends!

Yeah, Ivy is the superhero name of my alter ego Violet Green, she's the niece of Pamela Isley, but unlike her aunt she uses her plant generating/manipulating powers for good instead of evil. She is the daughter of Pamela's older sister Isabella Isley who was a botanist, biochemist, and meta human/alien physician who made a potion that would duplicate her sister's powers but unknown to her she was pregnant at the time and the potion affected Violet instead of her. Ivy also teaches the next generation of metas and aliens how to control there powers. Ivy has met the legion once though, her favourite Legionaire is Shrinking Violet, and not just because of the Violet thing. I wanted to use one of the recent animated versions of Poison Ivy, but when I couldn't you were right, I used green suit Kinetix as a pretty good substitute.

Hello! My name is Christopher Rowe. I live in Lexington, Kentucky with my wife, two cats, and three dogs, (none of whom, sadly, are named after Legion characters, though my wife, Gwenda, does resemble Dream Girl but with teal hair).
My first Legion issue off the stands was Superboy and the Legion of Super-heroes #246, "Will the Last Person to Leave Mercury Please Leave the Door," when I was seven years old. I didn't know I was a huge Mike Grell fan then, but boy did that cover catch my eye. I did not know what to do with Shadow Lass strectched across the surface of Mercury. And those costumes! And the head of Validus floating off on the right! And then I turn to the title page and it's about Mercury! (I was really into the planets at that time.)
I immediately started following the book as closely as I could (newsstand distribution was intermittent in small-town Kentucky), and collected up through the beginning of the Baxter run, and then twelve issues in to that (I subscribed to all three of the initial Baxter titles). By the time that was through, I was fourteen, spending all my money from working on the family farm on Dungeons & Dragons, and girl crazy. Those things, combined with the fact that the completist in me felt like I couldn't really follow DC anymore because I couldn't get all the Crisis books, led to me getting away from comics. The fact that the nearest comic book store was seventy miles away (along with the nearest movie theater and the nearest bookstore) didn't help.
So, fast forward to decades later, when on a whim, I picked up the first Great Darkness Saga trade paperback. By then I'd kicked the dust of the family farm off my boots and was living in Louisville (where I'd attended the university). I intermittently poked my head in and out of comics shops, eventually putting together a run of the first three years or so of Five Years Later. Be warned, fellow fans, I really liked those books, so...
Those issues disappeared in a divorce, and, fast forward to a couple of years later, I found myself interested in the early years of the Legion (I'd read a lot of those as they were collected in the old Adventure Digests when I was a kid). I assembled a complete run of the Archives, then the deluxe Great Darkness Saga and the deluxe Curse. And off I went. I'm currently on a jag of collecting and reading. Between collected editions and stalking dollar boxes and eBay, I've assembled quite a collection (including even the issue of Kamandi, the Last Boy on Earth that served as a sort of coda to Karate Kid's solo title). I've engaged on a great re-read, starting with Adventure #247 with plans to go all the way through the end of the Bendis run (and whatever, hopefully, comes after). I'm currently on Legion of Super-heroes v.4, #44, and wow is Valor's solo book rough going for me. Everything going forward is completely new to me. have collected most of the Reboot in single issue form (including crossovers, mini-series, and guest appearances). I have all the trades for stuff after that, and will probably depend on those for my re-read, because at this point I'm more interesting in collecting backwards rather than forwards.
I also have the two Mayfair Games Legion sourcebooks from the eighties and am growing increasingly frustrated at not being able to run down a copy of the early 90s book. I have the Legion book from TwoMorrows Press and have their book about the best of Legion fanzines in the 70's in my "to buy" list.
I'm interested in APAs and have a letter of enquiry into Klordy. Interlac seems to only have contact information through their Facebook page and I'm on a social media hiatus, but I'll write them when I decide I can stomach Facebook again (enough with the memes, Dad! Abraham Lincoln absolutely did not say that!).
That's about it for me and the Legion. I have been a professional writer since 1998 with dozens of short stories, a couple of collections, a Forgotten Realms novel, and two middle grade novels to my name. I've been a full time writer for about five years and have two novellas forthcoming from tordotcom's print program. I've been a finalist for the Hugo, Nebula, and World Fantasy awards. I really look forward to participating in this message board and wish I could figure out how to "mark all read" so I can kind of start fresh.
Cheers,
Christopher
