Okay, I really wish they'd get a new fill in artist. De Kraker's facial expressions alone are just too much for me. SPOILER SPACE The Dream Girl resolution leaves more questions unanswered than before. I was very disappointed. So is she a figment of Brainy's imagination? a ghost? Is this a redo of ghost-Tinya being trapped in Jo's body? Where did her body go? Is Brainy just totally crackers? Space fatigue? You pick the ending that fits. And Barry promised me that Luornu's costume would be made purple again, but it's still black.

Oh, yeah. Brainy wasn't the only one who wanted to throttle Element Lad. Shut up already, Jan.

I whipped through the issue pretty fast, so I'm sure I missed a lot, but at first glance it seemed pretty good. Element Lad didn't bother me; I thought he made some good points, even if he did couch them in his own hippie-dippy language.
Easiest possible solution for just what happened there with Dream Girl's resurrection: Element Lad transmuted her body into air so that Brainy's plan wouldn't work, and Nura's ghost is a figment of Brainy's imagination.
So Brainy's immune to everybody's powers. Uh huh. How, exactly, does that work?
Second straight robot-free issue. Maybe Chameleon really did disrupt their plan for good.
I liked the conversation with Supergirl.

If anyone wants a good reason why this can't be the real Dream Girl, here's one: the Dream Girl who confided in Saturn Girl in that backup story in issue... was it #12?... and the Dream Girl talking to Brainy in this issue are saying way different things. The one in this issue is saying exactly the sort of stuff Brainy might think up for her to say.
We don't have to do spoiler tags and stuff in here, do we? The whole thread is spoilers, and labeled as such.

So Dream Girl is back or at least someone who looks like her?
Cool! That wasn't shown in the preview at SDCC.
(Spoiler tags are unnecessary.)

Well not exactly.
Brainy's plan seems to work but then as he says the magic word, her old body disappears but nothing apears where her "Nura 2.0" body is supposed to show up. Brainy has a fit and beats up Jann, but a disembodied voice tells him to stop.
In the next scene we see the voice is Nura's and she gets all kissy faced with him as he's sleeping. It's also clear that only Brainy can hear/see her.
My understanding of his plan is that B5 actually parsed Nura's data as she went through his device. So it could be her spirit inside his head, just edited more to his liking.

Like everyone else, I'm left wondering what "really" happened with Dream Girl. If she's still dead and Brainy's just gone that far insane, what was the point of all this? If it really was her...well, like Matthew E pointed out, what happened to "I think I like Starboy"?
Of course, Starboy didn't move hell and high water to bring her back to life. I can imagine that might impress a girl.
What I really can't believe is that nobody mentioned the goings on with Gim:
An evil version of Polar Boy (at least, that's what I'm gonna call him until I hear different)
Nemesis Kid. Talking with Tarik the Mute.
They certainly want us to think the Legion of Super Villains is coming.
"I will drill a hole through my head. You cannot stop me."

good story. Brainy being immune to everyone's power seems like the paranoid(I am just cautious) thing to do.
as for Dream Girl, I agree with the poster who says she is probably been parsed to be how Brainy wanted her to be. time will tell
as for the art, I have one complaint(well two, but everyone mentions how off some of the facial expressions are.) what's the deal with all the white space in the lounge scene with supergirl? at first I thought maybe it was a failed attempt at dramatic effect. but on second thought I wonder if it was a just trick to save time in getting the art done.
lastly as anyone noticed that this book is ripe for a drinking game. how many times have we seen Briany refer to others as an ape, or the word griefe, kono juice, etc, etc. as anyone complied a drinking game yet?

There have been drinking games for other incarnations of the Legion, but I don't think anyone has started one for this version yet.

As Koymic mentioned, we sure do meet what promises to be part of the new LSV (apparently led by Tarik the Mute). So far, besides the crimal giants, we have now met Nemesis Kid, Seismic, and an "evil" version of Polar Boy. Wonder who else will be in it.

I think this issue sets off a whole slew of interesting meta-physical questions. Presumably, since Brainy filtered all the collective information of Nura through his brain, he has, in effect absorbed Dream Girl's experiences and personality, and given them free reign in some part of his sub-conscious (She really is "Dream Girl"). So does he really have her "soul" inside of him or just a collection of all her experiences whith the ability to reason for itself? And, more importantly, is there a difference between the two?

I'm not so sure this means the end of Nura. If you recall, Tinya's spirit was inside Jo after she was killed postboot, and Imra dreaming about Garth didn't preclude him coming back from the dead a few months later. Also, disappearing corpses might very well fall under heading "if you don't see the body ....". Even in his deranged state of mind, Brainy could've been right that she's somewhere on the ship - or maybe even *in* it. The idea of Nura's soul becoming the L.E.G.I.O.N ship's sentience is pretty whacky, but I'll make up anything to convince myself she's not completely gone.
I realize B5 was overcome by emotion and sleep deprivation but, man, Jan literally became the "whipping boy" of this story. Plus, there was definitely some metatextual wierdness going on with lines like "Think you'll transmute me into a statue?" I'll chalk up the "Jann" to a lettering error or Tony Bedard's unfamiliarity with Legion spelling conventions.
Brainy making himself immune to the other Legionnaire's powers was a stroke of genius (natch) but I doubt he's had the opportunity to immunize himself against Supergirl. Just a thought.
I mostly liked the Colostomy, er, Colossal Boy scenes, puke and all, and "Are you scared of a girl?" had to be the best line of the issue. As for Tarik's rescue squad, Seiss was cute as Quake Kid even if he resembles Echo, but if you have a "polar boy" please make him look more like a Tharrian than a Coluan and don't completely disregard the fact Nemesis Kid is traditionally a blonde. That complaint aside, it's great to see the LSV revving into action.
Nice "coffee klatch" scene with Kara, Jeckie, Trip and Tinya, with a subtle little nod to "Supergirl's Three Super Girl-Friends". The Sundollar Coffee poster will ring a bell with those who've visited the 52 website and I'm first in line for one of Trip's Legion emblem slurpee cups. What's a "soder" machine?
Is Cos really so naive he believes the underagers will all come flooding back to the Legion banner on Election Day? Not if Tarik has his druthers. The good news is Cos has apparently taken himself out of the running and there will be a *new* leader. Whether it turns out to be a hero or villain remains to be seen.
A really interesting melange of poignant, disturbing, threatening and silly moments. Now, if only Barry had drawn it.

Actually Soder's been all over 52, I wonder if they havent overtaken their rival with the advent of 'New Earth'
Maybe Brainy will submit to a Saturn Girl mind scan when he gets back to HQ. Probably not.
As to Nura contradicting her earlier conversation with Saturn Girl about Brainy. Maybe she was lying to Imra, because SG is one of those meddlers that want to know all your secrets. Since all the girls are in love with Starboy it was a safe thing to say. Announcing to the gossipy meddler that you like the biggest jerk on the team not so much.

Well... that's not quite the Dream Girl resolution I was hoping for. It's taken the two intriguing characters from LSH #2 and transmuted them into one mushy mess. I can't picture a worse outcome.
More interesting was the exchange in the clubhouse between Projectra, Supergirl, Triplicate Girl, and Phantom Girl. It put to rest thoughts that the majority of the Legion was getting fed up with Supergirl and established the Legion's resident illusionist as having little regard for subtlety--probably won't get her on the espionage squad in this version. Alas, the whole exchange had to be Cosmic Boy's idea, continuing the concept that he and Brainy seem the only ones capable of directing any group effort.
Poor Colossal Boy. Not even the papers will call him Micro Lad, and he gets trounced by unfriendly giants. Colossal Lass sure needs some comeuppance--hopefully this LSV plot won't end in unsatisfactory redemption like the Lemnos one did.
I wonder if Light Lass, Atom Girl, & Element Lad will keep their trip to themselves. It would be interesting to see that create some form of bond between them--but I don't count on it. At the very least, hopefully Jan(n) will take being mounted by Brainy as a cautionary sign that he needn't go on & on about spiritual things, even if they are a convenient plot-review device.

The storylines in this boot are already paced petrifyingly slow, again IMHO.

Haven't read this yet, but does anyone see this as a shameless ripoff of the Baltar/Number 6 "relationship" on the new Battlestar Galactica? Of course, that was pretty cool, and pretty hot. So if you are going to rip something off, rip off the good stuff.
...but you don't have a moment where you're sitting there staring at a table full of twenty-five characters with little name signs that say, "Hi, my superpower is confusing you!"
