I'm surprised this hasn't come up yet. With a major relaunch and possible reboot coming up, I think that there is a strong possibility for a legionnaire or two to be used as cannon fodder in this upcoming issue.
Who would be your picks to go?
Here are mine:
First up Cosmic Boy, mostly because I don't like him.
Kid Quantum: because she has essentially become a female Rokk
Apparition: because she has yet to develop a personality in the ten years since the reboot started.

The Legion (not to mention the Titans) have suffered more than their share of loss. Killing characters is not a good way to bring longtime readers aboard.

I'd agree with Gary - no one! If they're starting with a new team or some new team, they can just let unwanted characters go with no explanation needed. Everybody is somebody's favourite character.
Death in comics is too easy. Why not opt for retirement over death and make deaths a really rare event? We could have some hero get badly injured and leave if we want some realism, without going for obliteration.
If somebody from the current team had to be killed, I'd take Kinetix since she seems to be in creative gridlock anyways. However, I think rehabilitation is better than death. I don't know the TItans well enough to choose, but didn't they just lose Donna Troy this past year?

Killing characters is a poor way to launch a title. It may impress new readers, but it turns off longtime readers. Although I'm kinda sorta enjoying Titans right now (I'm dropping Outsiders), I know that neither new book was worth the deaths of two beloved characters like Lilith and Donna Troy.
And the reboot Legion has seen too much death already. It's not necessary to kill a character just becaus eyou don't want to write about them. Send them off into comic book limbo, but leave them intact for someone else to use.
Some people are like slinkys: not really good for anything, but they bring a smile to your face when you knock them down a flight of stairs

I agree with Fat Cramer. Characters need not die to make an impact on a book. Other irreversible changes to a character over obliteration are sometimes more are daring to do. Look at Magno's loss of power or the bravest change to a character's status quo: Oracle.
I would love for this crossover to reinvigorate existing characters, not disintegrate. My first choice would be to see Sun Boy and Polar Boy re-emerge to their former prominence. I'd like to see Supergirl over Superboy become a permanent member or at least a refreshed Andromeda. The nun gig has got to go.

Bah! I say kill off the entire current team and replace them. These characters have had their chance as Legionnaires, now let's bring back some of vast number of other Legion characters who haven't been used in years and give them the chance to shine!

Are they mixing the teams - like permanently? I wonder if/how Ferro will figure in to this at all - him being from the present and all...

I agree, either retire the character or place them on an extended leave of absence. That way they can come back later with none of DC's quick explanation of how and why they were raised from the dead. It's a crappy way to get rid of un-needed characters. I like the "DC Limbo" thing. And for Goddess sake don't start out a new re-launched book with something like that, leaves a bad taste in ones mouth and it takes several issues to get over it and even then, those that love the character will be pissed and that's not ever the right way to start things out!! Hopefully Mark Waid is reading the threads here and will read this one, JUST IN CASE that has crossed his mind. I wish to god that Colossal Boy would be back with us. That just sucked the big one!!

Rather than kill someone, I'd like to see a Legionnaire get booted out or quit, not because they turn bad or cross some ethical line, but because they majorly screw up somehow due to a human weakness be it fear, poor judgment, selfishness, I dunno. It's just something I don't think we've seen before but could be just as dramatic but evoke a totally different set of emotions and wouldn't close the door on that character returning.

Well, this was prescient, since it's essentially what's happened to Colossal Boy this time around. And yeah, I greatly prefer that to bumping off characters right and left. (But I still want to see him reunited with Yera. -snif!- )
