Well, the two characters Johns absolutely and inexorably ruined when he took them on in Teen Titans have now been killed off. Fancy that...

I agree. While Bart's story may (or may not) be good in isolation, taken together with the history of the DC universe over the last 20 years, it's abominable. Look at the death and dismemberment suffered by the kids of the DCU in Infinity, Inc. and the Titans. DC seems to think it has to kill characters to tell good stories. However, it can't kill off Superman, Batman, and Wonder Woman, at least not for long. So much of the death "drama" gets dumped on the more expendable heroes, most of which happen to be kids. Yes, I know Barry died, and Hal and Ollie (good grief, that's alotta resurrections!). From my point of view, though, the deaths of the 1st generation precipitate the deaths of the 2nd, because when the 2nd generation tries to move up to 1st tier status, it makes things confusing with the Big 3, making the deaths of the 2nd generation more likely, and leaves voids in the sidekick department that get filled with more cannon fodder, I mean, kids.
And now we have a countdown to a final crisis so another 2 years of death and destruction to remake the universe further into, what exactly?
I think it's time for a Meltzer-esque story where someone takes Superman, Batman and Wonder Woman to task for child endangerment!
...but you don't have a moment where you're sitting there staring at a table full of twenty-five characters with little name signs that say, "Hi, my superpower is confusing you!"

Yeah i agree. It seems like they focused on the Justice League Internation first and then the Teen Titans.

Well, Bart should never have been the Flash, but its not the character's fault, its DCs.
I've long said that the treatment of Wally and Bart these last two or three years have been DC's biggest crime. For shame DC...terrible job. Bart was a great character, with an unfair ending.
I happen to like quite a lot of what Geoff does, but he, Didio and other 'architects of the DCU' really dropped the ball here.

If I were a character intro'ed during the grim/gritty 90s, I'd be real worried right now.
And I'd sooner join the Doom Patrol than any version of the Titans.

I hated this death too. Look, Bart was a very singular character as Impulse. Yes, he was a speedster, but he was a remarkably FUN character. For reference, just pull out issue 3 of his run. I have never honestly laughed that hard at a comic, and yet it wasn't the slapstick Bugs Bunny three stooges type of humor. It was funny because of the twisted idea behind it.
Now, with (spoiler ALERTTTTTTTTT)
Wally and Linda and the kids back, I imagine that the gloves are off in the new Flash book. The rogues did it. Wally is gonna become more gritty in the book seeking them for the murder...the cycle just seems to keep getting worse.
They couldn't have restored Wally and reverted Bart back to an earlier age? Its not that hard folks. Its comics. You just write and draw it and bang, its done.
And while i realize that DC has gone more "realistic" in its approach, whats wrong with just having some fun. I feel like i am reading Marvel comics instead of DC lately.
I quit reading marvel for a reason.
Damn you, you kids! Get off my lawn or I'm callin' tha cops!
Something pithy!
