I mess around in Photoshop from time to time making little cartoony pics of characters I like when I'm bored. Here is the latest result of my boredom. :-) Ultra Boy

Remember : It's not technically a suckerpunch if you yell ''DEFEND YOURSELF SPROCKER!'' two seconds before you let him have it.

I've got a tablet Joey, and I've gotta say it's well worth the money! I'd be lost without mine.

No, I just use my mouse, I don't like the pen pads. Dude! That rocks! I'd love to see more if you've got 'em! Ok, I mostly make Marvel characters but here are some other DC ones I've done. Here's one I did of Martian Manhunter: Here's one I did of a character I made up, he's set in an alternate reality, divergent from that of the JLU cartoon. He's the son of Superman and Hawkgirl and the student of Dr. Fate in a universe where Earth has been destroyed and the survivors live on New Genesis. His name is Jon El aka Super Hawk. Here's one I did of an amalgam of Superman and Lightray.

Yeah using a mouse to do this is mega impressive. From what I've seen the tablet is much faster after you're used to it.

Those are way cool! They have a very "X-Men: Evolution" feel to me, which I love!
Some people are like slinkys: not really good for anything, but they bring a smile to your face when you knock them down a flight of stairs

Marvel characters are cool too, so if you've got some of those you'd like to post feel free. Just 'cuz it's a Legion board doesn't mean everything needs to be Legion/DC related. We don't discriminate when it comes to cool art!

I've got a Wacom Intuos 2. Cost me about $200 when I bought it back in 2003. Worth every penny if you ask me! That being said Wacom's Graphire line of tablets (which currently are selling for a little under $100 US) are very good and will most likely well suit your needs. I've heard mixed reviews of non-Wacom made tablets, and I've never used one, so I can't really vouch for anything other than a Wacom tablet. I had a real hard time getting used to using the tablet when I first bought it, and it's easy to see why a lot of people say they don't like them. I basically had to put my mouse away for a couple of weeks and do everything with the pen and tablet before I could really get used to the interface. Now that I've been using it for a couple of years I couldn't imagine trying to color/Photoshop without it. Okay, sales pitch over. I'll stop hijacking The Kahn's thread now!

Wow Kahn, that's awesome!! ^_^ I can't believe you can use your mouse to make 'em... totally impressive. The designs rule too. Lightray/Supes hee!! I'd looooove to see your Marvel characters too -- I'm a big X-Fan myself. So... yeah. Post away dude!! Can't wait to see more.

you do this freehand with a mouse in Photoshop? Now that is impressive.
You should checkout the Project Runway thread and see if you can translate some of the Legionworlders into your style.
Great Job!

Thanks again everyone. you do this freehand with a mouse in Photoshop? Now that is impressive. I actually use templates, blank body shapes on a white background, trace those out on my starting layer, then draw on all the details and color it. So its not completely from scratch per se.

Here's one that I didn't draw but that I edited. The original pic was just of regular JLU J'onn, and I edited it giving him a GL costume which I designed. Here's one I did of Thor's son Magni. Here's a character I created, Mromir.

Another unique style that just adds to Legionworld.
How long does it usually take you Kahn to finish a piece?

Thanks guys. :-) Another unique style that just adds to Legionworld.
How long does it usually take you Kahn to finish a piece? Depends if I'm happy with it the first time I get done, if that is the case then anywhere between 1-3 hours depending on the amount of detail. If I am not happy with how it first turns out then I go back and redo things etc. this can extend the time exponentially until I am happy. I'm very critical of my own work. :-) WOW!

Great job, Kahn! :-D Thanks much, its nice to be appreciated.

Kahn, why dont you send some of your samples to DC? I think you have the talent and imagination to succeed!
Question: besides PhotoShop and tablets, what other means are there to get artwork on display? Would a scanner work on its own or in conjunction with some other program?
And to be able to work a mouse to draw - its amazing! A steady hand is a good thing to have, eh?

And to be able to work a mouse to draw - its amazing! A steady hand is a good thing to have, eh? I appreciate your kind words, but this is about the extent of my artistic abilities. It takes me quite a while just to make one of these pics, and I am horrible at drawing backgrounds. I just do this for fun. I am more of a writer, and I just make these pics to help bring my story ideas to life somewhat. You can draw stuff on paper and scan it in and then color it in Photoshop sure. As for the mouse drawing, I think I should clarify some. I don't use the brush or pencil tool when I make these pics. I use the line tool, and just make lines connecting them in the proper ways so it comes across like fluid drawing.

Very nice images -- a cool animated style. I hope you have more Legionnaires up your sleeve!
And by all means, keep sharing everyone, even if it's not Legion or DC. I really like Mromir.
