This could be a LOT differnet in tone from the classic AL stories!
Imagine: The WaK LSH is basically all about how adults are a drag, right? What if the WaK Legion meet their adult selves and most of them turn out to be how most of us turn out--just like our parents!
It could be the funniest, most angsty WaK story yet! A different, comical update on the classic concept!
What do you think? And what are some of the more comical twists that might happen?
Still "Lardy" to my friends!

Not only is adult Cos balding with a spare tire, overuse of his voice over the next 20 years causes him to lose it and become mute.
Confronting his future self he resigns as Legion Leader and resolves to save himself from that cruel future by shutting up.

Perhaps different phrasing there would be for the best. Lester S. is litigious.

That could be pretty funny. Some of them would probably even be worse than the current crop of adults.
I'd like to see their kids, too - not just images of cute little tykes like we had in the original Adult Legion story, but a range of ages with speaking parts. There was a lack of offspring in 5YL, but the adults weren't that old - so this version would have to be in their late 30s/40s. It's not just how you turn out yourself as an adult, but how you view children that makes for some shocking revelations.

Actually, though, they wouldn't turn out like their parents. Remember the thing I wrote on Legion Abstract about the generational cycles? The Legion and their similarly-aged counterparts would grow up in much the same way that the Boom generation grew up: they'd take some time off from superheroing and public life for a decade or two in their 20s/30s/40s, and then come back to, in all probability, even more bitterly fought conflicts than the ones they saw in their youth, and eventually provide visionary leadership to save society from whatever those conflicts culminated in.

(Ninja Boy (son of Val and Shady) is visiting Triple-Sun Girl (daughter of Dirk and 1/3 of Trip) at her parents' house.)
TRIP: Oh, we totally support your teenage rebellion. Honey, tell them how we met.
DIRK: In the Legion.
TSG: How disgusting. I bet they're about to break out the baby pictures. Of you.

Jeepers! Would the Legion kids be do-nothing Gen-X slackers then? That could be even more amusing!

B5's daughter as a hates to study social butterfly? She could be the most popular girl in school.

This story would be even funnier if Mxy and Lex's descedents showed up again--and were the same exact ones from the Silver Age wondering what the heck was going on! Then they could reapear in the next 40 years, then 40 years hence, and finally on the 200th Anniversary of the Legion, we could get their full story where all of Legion history makes sense!
Unfortunately, I'll be a head in a jar by then, but at least I can have someone read it to me...

I think it would be interesting if Saturn Girl's daughter insisted on speaking out loud, and was annoyed that her old fashioned mom insists so much on the whole mute thing!
Basically, I like the idea of the Legion's kids' thinking that the way their parents use their powers was not innovative. That the new way to use them is better, fresher. (I need to think on this further, but if anyones else wants to roll with it, that'd be cool....)

Imra: Why do you keep talking? You know you don't have to...you're half Titanese! Use telepathy!!! Dacey: I'm half Winathian too, and they talk all the time! Imra: And about that...since we're on Earth and not Winath right now, you really should put some clothes on...

(I need to think on this further, but if anyones else wants to roll with it, that'd be cool....) Examples of 'fine-tuning' or modifications to the Legion power-sets that the kids might use to drive their parents batty; Brainiac 5 - his clone-spawn decides to apply his intellect to figuring out that most complicated of systems, other people. He's a schmooze, but so freakishly good at it that he's beloved by all, very popular and able to twist his peers around like the WildCAT T.A.O. He's also learned to apply his intellect to fighting, outmaneuvering and dancing around less intelligent combatants, making them look as stupid and irrelevant as they are, to him. His 'father,' Brainiac 5, considers this all a terrible waste of his enormous brain... Cosmic Boy - his limited range magnetic powers he applies on the micro-scale to reinforce and augment a suit of metallic armor and metal weapons, making them effectively invulnerable, allowing him to fly (by moving the metal he's encased in) and strike with his weapons with punishing force. Naturally, the idea of him being reliant on 'equipment' rubs his dad the wrong way (even if his 'equipment' is just metal that he uses to conduct his powers). Lightning Lad - channels bioelectricity, which he can use to shock people, but generally uses only to accelerate his own metabolism, giving him super-speed, strength and fast-healing.

Wow, Set! Your idea for 'Brainiac 6' is AWESOME! Could you imagine any version of B5 we've ever seen using their intellect to charm everyone? It's BRILLIANT! And WaK B5 would be so aghast!

Yeah, I've always been a tad annoyed at the 'smart, but socially inept' or 'smart, but arrogant' tropes. I always wondered why that would be the case, when even us dim bulbs can usually figure out what a person wants to hear long enough to convince her to commit to spending the rest of her life with us.

Great stuff, Set!
I've always thought Cos should keep an arsenal of metallic objects to use as weapons, handy. They sort of explored that with his chest discs in the postboot, IIRC.
