Making my way through the Postboot Legion Academy. 12 kids done so far. Finally found some reference material for Tomb, Brawler, and Cannus.
I could have sent you the Showcase '95 scans if you'd asked!
Incidentally, a thought. Whenever you get round to the Legionnaires #43 rejectees ( ), d'you agree the black guy talking to Polar Boy and the giant Gecko from the cover are the same guy?
My views are my own and do not reflect those of everyone else... and I wouldn't have it any other way.
'Boot! I'll actually still take those scans if you have them. The ones I have are actually just a shrunk picture of a page and I was going to go on memory for the rest. Have no idea where my "Postboot Legion Guest Spot" issues are at the minute. I've got #43 for Cannus' other look.
Totally will be getting to applicants one day! I also love a good character-linking conspiracy and don't see why that can't be Gecko Lad.

Just "Gecko", please. It's postboot we're talking about!

See attached. There's no really great shots of any of them, that said. [Also, remember that the Legion World guys were members of the Legion Cadet Program. The only Academy students we actually saw postboot were these three guys!]

Stone Boy and other Cadets who first appeared in The Legion #25. Chris Batista has since gone back and come up with unofficial names and powers for them all.
Additional, unnamed Legion Cadets who first appeared in The Legion #36 & #37.
Not sure why I waited so long to post the Legion Cadets. Probably chronological OCD since I didn't have Cannus and company done? I've been sitting on them for months.
Clearly I haven't been doing much in the way of Micro Heroes or really any virtual graphic design of late. Despite that, the other day I started fiddling around with the templates I had been using. Love the Bruce Timm style, but the proportions with the heads especially have always bothered me. So I tried to create some more realistic, proportionate base bodies to use. Ones that I could modify further to make different heights or ages, so there'd be more variety in the look of the Legionnaires.
Here's a before and after with some 70s Legionnaires, who are actually the first I ever micro'd:
What does everyone think? I've been wanting to remake some of the original Legionnaires. I need to with the girls since the originals were so small anyway, so why not go all out with new templates? Feedback is appreciated. Thanks for looking!
Second Iteration: Ringtoss, Jagged, Shift, R327, Dragonfly
Could Ringtoss and the one-eyed unnamed cadet be the same (but miscolored) person? I have no idea but I'd guess one-eyed races aren't all that comon in the UP!
With the right colorist or artist on the Legion, I'd like to think any similar-looking background characters could be linked. I did wonder if a number of the UP Military Cadets later were based off unnamed kids in the background from the Khund War. The one-eyed Ringtoss you mention is an example, but there was also a long haired gentleman next to him that could have been the template for Jagged.
Thanks for the feedback, Ken and IB! I'm leaning toward remakes as well, focusing on teams rather than individuals. I remember the few team shots I posted were a hit. Made a buffed up base body last night for the Mon-Els and Andromedas of the world. Now for a teen body...
Real names were never given for them in an official capacity I don't believe. They all first appeared within six months of the reboot so they fell through the cracks fast.
Ringtoss seemed to fire energy rings from his eyes. Jagged shot sharp, concussive waves or knives of energy from his arms. R327 had a gun arm. Dragonfly just flew.
Aw. A belated thank you to everyone for the kind words while I was gone. I'm glad you've all enjoyed these. As the "artist" I definitely look at them and realize a number of things I'd like to do differently, but that's life!
That's also why I started going back and redoing these. I just haven't gotten very far with them the past year to really post anything. Perhaps one day!
I'd also be happy to see your redesigns, Future. But we're just glad to have you back and posting, so no pressure!

What a wonderful power! Look, Brainiac 5, she can FLY!
Would be great on any team not named the Legion of Super-heroes and who don't use flight belts or flight rings That's the challenge of writing any character who can "just" fly in the Legion's universe.
