To set this up, this is part of a post from a first person perspective online email game I am in. In this dimension Condo has returned from the dead by a quirk of the Time Trapper, and Lyle never returned from the grave. In the time since Condo has returned to the Legion, he has fallen deeply in love with Invisible Kid II. In this scene from today's posting, Condo must leave Jacques to go on a mission to rescue Shrinking Violet. Anyway, Scott doesn't like my romance between Condo and Jacques, but others do, so for your consideration:


CONDO:

Everyone else is waiting for me, I must hurry. Still, I can't help but flirt at least a little bit with Jacques while we have the chance. He isn't squeamish or hesitant about letting me draw the blood samples. He has such faith in me and it is bringing out feelings of nurture and tenderness that I never expected to experience again. ~What does the future hold for us?~ I long for the sense of home and commitment with Jacques that I remember was hardly more than a dream during my time with Lyle. ~That was over too quickly, parted by death. This can't end before it even starts!~

I watch him, the playful smirk on my face turning rapidly to a frank gaze of anticipation then appreciation as he removes his uniform for me. Jacques pulls off his gloves and then his jacket. Then, ever so slowly he removes his shirt.

A small groan escapes my lips as I feel my body react to the sight of him. How I long for time to stop for us. Time to let me touch him. To run my hands over his muscles, to kiss his bruises and his still healing ribcage. To taste his skin, and to inhale his scent up close, unabashedly. Time, to begin to learn my love's body. To discover his secret yearnings and awaken them.

I catch a glint in his eye and hear the tease in his tone as he asks, "Will this make things easy enough for you?" Quietly, my heart in my throat I answer as best I can, aware that we are not alone. "Only if you think the torture of leaving you now is easy. You take my breath away Jacques. To have to touch you in a purely clinical fashion is agony." I draw the blood samples gently and make certain they are stored properly, some at room temperature, some refrigerated, and some frozen. Hopefully taking these precautions I have left nothing to chance and the physician or Querl can begin working. I took my last opportunity to evaluate his condition and to balance Jacques emotions and have to hope he will be alright on his own during my absence.

Done. Now there is no non-personal reason why I still hesitate to join the others. "Jacques, I have to go. They're waiting for me." Not to embarrass him I resist the urge to hold him, and I just squeeze his shoulder as I speak my goodbye. I look deeply into his eyes, feeling like a man drowning, feasting on his last, best seconds of life. "Please be careful. Be vigilant and if you begin to feel out of control, please get to the med-bay and let them sedate you or restrain you. Anything but let them hurt you. Promise me you'll protect yourself. I'm coming back to you, I swear it! When I get back we'll take some time off, just the two of us, if you want to that is. We can go somewhere, anywhere, wherever you want to. I will court you properly, as you deserve. I love you Jacques." Kissing him passionately but swiftly, I force myself to turn and walk toward the shuttle and the mission.

Very well written, SG! Condo comes across much more self assured then he was ever written in LSH but more as I always felt he should be. Nice work.

Scott was the creator of this version of Condo but I picked him up when Scott got too busy to play him anymore. I was almost in awe of the power and intelligence of Condo, and now I feel very close to 'him.' It is fun and interesting to take him into this new romance. Alas, now if he will survive the mission to Grimbor's Keep to rescue Violet....? Maybe if I feel brave I will post some more later. Thanks again

Please do, I would enjoy reading it. Condo was always ne of my favorites. You treat him with the dignity he deserves and recognize his value, unlike most of the writers that simply ignored him or used him as a prop.

I'm afraid I agree with Scott on the romance.

But having said that, your scene is beautifully written and very powerful. I would enjoy reading the larger story.

I quite like this couple. It's certainly a very unexpected twist, and very well written too SG, you have a very strong grasp of the characters.

Is there more for us?

Sounds like Condo's got it bad! Is Jacques equally enchanted? It does present a very capable, self-assured Condo - but someone who could become very emotional off-duty, I really feel like he's put a conscious lid on his feelings here but is having a fight to remain "professional". This could be developed into a very complex romance, SG! Does Condo love Jacques as a Lyle substitute? I do hope you'll continue.
