It's been a long time...

Finally getting around to doing some art again. It's been a long 6 months (both good and bad). This is an image I wanted to do a while back but never got to. It's a homage to the silver age LSH rocket ship clubhouse. In the background is a rendition of Metropolis from the silver age.

As it once was, comments and suggestions welcome.

-Dan-

EDIT: Heh...just like old times. Shortly after I posted I ended up reworking the image more.

Although I really liked the effect of a majority of the reflections (in particular, I thought it added somewhat of an illusion of height to the background cityscape), I found in particular that it was quite distracting in the focal area. It was difficult to tell where the HQ stopped and the reflection started). Also, added a very rudimentary door to the model.

Finally, increased the amount of color to the HQ so it would stand out a little more. A little tweak on the render settings and bam!

EDIT 2: Now that I know how to thumbnail...did it. wink

Very nice work, Dan. I like both but the second one is really tremendous!

I agree Dan. Both are great and I love the reflective quality of the first one. With a door added to it perhaps it wouldn't have been as distracting as you say it was.

Thanks for the comments thus far. I'll have to give the more reflective look a shot with the door added in. My initial test renders didn't give much hope, but there's always something that can be done to fix it...I just have to find it. smile

In the meantime, doing this image put me in this strange silver age obsessive compulsive mode. I've already started doing the preliminary work on another image with that gosh darned swell silver age look.

Both of these pictures are beautiful Draub, I think I prefer the reflection picture as you can feel the mist in the air with the beautiful cityscape fogged out in the background.

Legion Worlds NINE - wait, there's even more ongoing amazing adventures? Yup, and you'll only find them in the Bits o' Legionnaire Business Forum.

Thanks again everyone for the kind words. Nightcrawler...damn you for making me blush! smile

Yay! Doing bits and pieces of modelling and rendering over the past few days...I made me another silver age themed image. This one is of a group of Mark VI's racing off to some whacky emergency. smile

(and yay! thumbnailed!)

I'm going to have to revisit the first image. I have a way I can try to get the best of both worlds with the reflection issues. I can render a version of each (and some masking images) and composite them together.

Things have been busy in these neck of the woods. I've recently been engaged in a small online comic project, and have started doing reviews of 3D products again.

The latest images have nothing to do with the LSH, but are things I've done for reviews. I don't know where this retro phase I'm stuck in is going...but I'm sure as hell enjoying the ride. wink

The first image was of a blatantly retro 3D product...for copyright purposes I had to change the names to protect the innocent. wink

Pardon the lack of thumbnail:

The second image was of a product that was not blatantly retro...but...that didn't stop me. laugh
