Newsarama is reporting that Stephen Wacker has suddenly parted with DC and is joining Marvel effective immediately. I thought this kind of thing only happened with fashion magazines and internet start ups. You know the big two are doing well when they start making offers to lure editorial talent away from each other. Good luck to Stephen at his new job.

Oh god! Will it never end? How much Legion talent is Marvel going to steal away from us? What do they think we are...the farm team?

Not to be outdone by DC, Marvel is planning to launch "365", and they needed an editor with some kind of background for this kind of project.

But with Marvel it will take them 5 years to get "365" out and then only by cutting the actual magazine count to 48 issues. They will make half of them double size and offer 3-5 covers on every one though.

But that's why they got him right? Joe Q: "Let's poach that Wacker guy. If he can get a weekly comic to ship on time, I'm betting that he can get the next Kevin Smith/Joe Quesada collaboration to ship daily. "

Here's the link: Wacker leaves DC Joe Q. makes a joke about '365' being a daily comic, but 1 page each... I hate that Stephen left, both for Legion and 52's sakes!! But naturally I wish him well...

Maybe a future issue of 52 will introduce him as a minor character then kill him, as a special farewell tribute.

Boy I REALLY HOPE this doesn't affect the Legion in a negative way. Best of luck to Steve at Marvel.

it's Money. Marvel probably offered him a sweet deal, and he took the money and ran. last year Wacker was going to leave DC for marvel but he waited till the end of the day to tell DC, and at that point Dc offered more money for him to stay. so go figure?

What's the chance S/LSH will wind up under the Superman editorial banner?
Since the title change to "Supergirl and ..." the two comic book shops I frequent have been shelving it with the Superman books, thus increasing its visibility. The Legion started out under the Superman editor, Mort Weisinger, and perhaps it's now time they take the prodigal child back into the fold.

And he was such a good crush to have, too. Man, this stinks. He was telling me about all this exciting stuff that was going on in JSA and stuff at SDCC and now... Well, at least the writing teams are staying put. But still. Stinks.

I guess I'm pretty ambivalent about it. He didn't endear himself to me by rebooting the Legion again (I'm not trying to open a debate here, I'm just sayin's all) but then again, things like bringing Steve Lightle and Dave Cockrum back into the fold really spoke to his good qualities. At any rate I hope he can do some good at Marvel, and good luck to him.
Edit: I know it wasn't all his responsibility for the reboot. Obviously something like that has to go through a lot of hands.

But the important thing is, will DC hire someone even cuter to replace him?

Great gravy! If only DC had hired Lash to be Steve Wacker's assistant, they'd have the perfect guy ready to step into his shoes!

Besides his choice of excellent artists (Copiel, Batista, Kitson) his tenure on Legion didn't do much for me. Maybe some new blood as editor is a good thing.
But this opinion is just on his Legion stuff. I love every other title he edits. Jonah Hex, JSA(!), 52! etc.
And I will look foward to what he's doing at Marvel.

Maybe he ran for Marvel because 52 got to be too much for him! He sure seemed pretty haggard in all those interviews!
Still "Lardy" to my friends!

You know, Marvel still has letter columns in their books. Imagine what a Wacker Letter Column would be like. Hmmmm.
I met him at Dallas 04. If you think he is funny in print he is freaking histarical in person.
