Did anyone get the Legion coffee table book that came out last month? What do you think of it? I am thinking of asking for it for my anniversary, and am wondering what you guys & gals think. Thanks!

The Legion Companion book is now scheduled to be published on 19 November, according to the publisher, TwoMorrows . The editor/author has said that it may be shipped to those making direct orders by the end of this month. For more information, see the thread on this book in the Steve Lightle section.

You can order the book from TwoMorrows (link in Greybird's post above) or from a comic book store. (As Legion cover artist, DC should really ship you a boxful, gratis!)

Does anyone know the order number for me to order it from my comic book store? They can't seem to find it in previews.

It was in the July Previews, I'm not sure how their ordering system/form works but here's the link to their archives (the original listing) - no order code given for some reason - maybe this helps your CBS guy to find it. Diamond archives

You can also visit Grey's link above to TwoMorrows and order it direct from them as I did months and months ago. And the pic rhino posted above was the preliminary cover with errors. Here's how the final cover will look: ![[Linked Image]](http://www.legionworld.net/images/LegionFinal.jpg)

Not to mention, that cover-hog Wildfire is obscuring Nura's breasts... What were you thinking, Mr C?!?! You're supposed to CATCH these things at the layout stage!

If you look at the period in the Legion's history this cover appears to be set in, then Val is dead. Projectra is Sensor Girl and way in the back I see Pol. But I wonder if that originally colored white character in the brown outfit to the right of Jan was supposed to be Val and in the correction it became Jacques?

(Though, to be fair, this team looks to be circa post-LSV War, pre-Crisis, Nighty... Supergirl's there, but so's Tellus and Quislet, and Blok's started his transformation... so Val wouldn't be there... but Sensor Girl didn't appear until AFTER Supergirl died in the Crisis...???) (...I'm so confused... )

And Dave drew HIS Timber wolf... Brin hadn't appeared like that since pre-GDS!
So why WASn't Val on the cover, in full Cockrum-y splendor???

I think its supposed to "span the ages", and it's definately all pre-boot. At no time was the roster as we see it on this cover.
I figure Dave got to use a bit of creative license here, ensuring prominent placement of some of his favorite characters, and which uniform each of them had on, etc. Unless he was given instruction on who to use, and from what time period. We should ask him.

Actually, she appeared a month earlier. LSH # 14 is cover dated Sept. 85, and Crisis # 7 is cover dated October 85. (Yup, I had to look that up). Usually when things look screwy from a continuity point of view, it's accidental, not intentional. I don't think Dave said, "I'll draw Timber Wolf this way instead of that way," or anything like that. I'll bet that he hadn't even read the Legion in years when he drew that picture. Remember, just because we've read every Legion issue ever and know the precise order of things, that doesn't mean that everyone else has, too.

It's decoration, folks. I gathered from Dave C's comments, in various forums, that this cover was simply meant to get as many preboot Legionnaires -- that having been his era -- in one place as was feasible.
Besides, this is a book of illuminating interviews and rarely-seen or original artwork, so it's as far from "continuity" as one could possibly get.

Also (and this is thanks to "Minty Fresh" *cough* *cough* at the DCMB), it seems Chemical King is MIA too!

An e-mailed message from Glen Cadigan, from 14 October:
Just thought that I'd let people know that the Legion Companion has officially been sent to the printers, and barring any unforeseen disasters, acts of God, or delivery trucks getting hijacked on their way back from the printers, it could be in stores as early as November 12 and certainly no later than November 19. Pre-press work has already begun on the book, so it's just a matter of time now. I'd like to thank everyone for their patience, and hope that they find it was all worth the wait in the end.

Cover artists only get comps if our editor send them to us out of their own private stash. I go buy my 20 copies at the store like everyone else. We do however get regular shipments of tube socks.

It's TwoMorrows' book, not DC's. DC just gets to have its lawyers scrutinize such things, which is the main reason publication was delayed two months.

Well, if I were A Power That Is, I would make sure my creative team and editors had access to as much material as possible about the books they were working on - back issues, "secondary source" books like this one, I'd even have some gopher scanning the net and off-line media for reviews, interviews and opinions and summarizing them in a press review. If the team wanted to read it, all or some, that would be their business. But I would certainly make sure the material was available to them as part of their job.

Oh Fat Cramer... We need someone like you in the Publishing biz. As it stands, TPTB are too busy changing their minds about the topics they've already changed their minds about to actually do anything to aid production.
