Whatever happened to the days when a villain's nefarious plans included zapping Legionnaires with rays that made them fat? That used to happen all the time in Legion stories, but not so much in recent months.
Perhaps WaK will make use of this traditional method of attacking the Legionnaires. Maybe one of Lemnos' gang has cell-expanding powers or something?
If so, which re-imagined Legionnaire do you most want to get super-fatassed? I'm leaning towards Brainy but can't get the picture of a gargantuan, fatassed Colossal Boy/Micro Lad out of my head.

You know what else we haven't seen in a good long while?
One of those stories where the eeeviiilll villain kidnaps a Legionnaire (or any superhero, for that matter) and wants to make that character his bride!

That explains the visit to Brainy's lab in #6. I wonder if Coluans wear veils?

I just got FLASH ARCHIVES Vol. 2 (as well as 3, already had 1) and was pleased to see that the Flash got super-fatassed by Gorilla Grodd in the FLASH #115 (SEPT. 1960) ![[Linked Image]](http://www.legionworld.net/images/fatassFlash.jpg)

He may not be a Legionnaire (he's not even a DC character) but he sure looks like one here. Franklin Richards gets super fatassed in Power Pack #2:

I giggle every time I read this phrase and read "super-fatassed". I just want to walk around saying that phrase...

When Princess P. said "It made me look fat", maybe it was really a foreshadowing of some future, fat-assing story.

FLASH got super-fatassed in 1960, eh? That means-- the Legion is NOT the trendsetter in super-fatassing. IIRC, the story where Superboy gets super-fatassed (after getting Bouncing Boy's powers) and "Super Stalag of Space" came well after 1960!
The Legion still can lay claim to "first chick leader" and "first chick disguised as a dude AKA drag king".

Hm...another Flash/Legion connection that is only apparent in hindsight. Like traveling in time and having cool rings, super-fatassing was another similarity in their silver age stories.
Now, I wonder if the other time-travelling/cool ring DC hero, Green Lantern, ever got super-fatassed?

I'm surprised they didn't make it a part of initiation-- maybe it's been kept secret all these years...

BAH! Un-honkin'-likely, what with the present creative team's obvious prejudice against fat people!

I'm imagining the new Brainiac 5 trying act all super-smart, super-commanding and super-condescending after he has been super-fatassed, while all the other Legionnaires snicker in a vain attempt to avoid a terminal attack of the BWA-HA-HAs.
Brainiac 5 could then use Colu's advanced miniaturization technology to un-superfat his ass.
...but you don't have a moment where you're sitting there staring at a table full of twenty-five characters with little name signs that say, "Hi, my superpower is confusing you!"

With obsesity in the US a worse problem than ever, overweight kids need a super-hero they can relate to!
And a metahporical villain they can blame their social angst/problems on!

Hmm... Jim Shooter did say he was going to try to make the Legion more relevant! And what could be more relevant to today's society than an evil plot to fatass the masses?

It could even tie into Waid's run with the Corporate Establishment being responsible. Of course, rather than make it a bore fest, by Corporate Establishment, I'd hope it meant crazy-looking kick-ass threeboot Nardo!
