Detailed spoilers:
Basically, it's fairly close to Mon-El's original story. He lands on Earth, young Clark discovers him. He speaks the phrase "Son of Jor-El" is Kryptonese, but can't remember who he is. He also speaks English. So they decide he must be Clark's older brother, and so they name him "Mon-El" for the traditional reason. Mon-El and Clark make a few saves reminiscent of scenes from the original story, and even play baseball with boulders and trees. Mon-El feels that something is wrong, however, and at night speaks a weird language (presumably Daxamite). So, they decide to test to see if he's really Kryptonian by pulling out a chunk of Kryptonite that Clark has in a safe in the storm cellar. Before he can pull the kryptonite out, however, Mon-El starts getting sick because of the lead container.
This triggers his memory. Basically, he was a Daxamite who came across data records that showed Kal-El's rocket leave Krypton on its way to Earth. He decided to go to Earth to look for Kryptonian relics, but crashed due to sunspot activity. Clark comes up with the Phantom Zone projector as a way to preserve his life, and Mon-El asks him to put him in. Clark mentions that he doesn't know how to release people from the Phantom Zone, but vows to find a cure for Mon-El, even if it takes a thousand years.

Just as interesting:
Click Here For A SpoilerThe map of the fortress of solitude shows a bunch of Legion statues in the trophy room... and they are CLEARLY the Pre-Crisis Legion.
As an aside: I like the Superman movies as much as the next guy, but letting Donner bring them into the DCU as Cannon muddies the waters even further while we're still trying to figure out what the heck Superman's backstory is now.
Although I partly suspect this is the plan and Didio's "3rd act" is going to reset things again next year.

Wow. I really MUST make it to the CBS shortly.
Has anybody figured out who all the figures are? There are 'like' four in the same color outfit and they're a bit blurry so I can't quite make 'em out...except that I believe one of 'em is Ferro Lad (or Ferro).
I would've said it was likely the Cockrum era Legion (check out Colossal Boy's work clothes) except for Andrew's presence...unless it really IS an acceptance by the PTB that ALL the Legions exist side by side.

I pretty certain that's a Giffen Cosmic Boy as well (and I believe that Gim may be Giffen era). I'm seeing the guy in the middle of the founders as WaK era Star Boy, but I'm not certian about that...

I see Triplicate Girl in the back wearing her Adventure costume. To me the Shadow Lass is either in her Giffen costume or the current costume.
Wouldn't surprise me if Superman has met many versions of the Legion. Note that this was the unsaid status quo pre-crisis as well. He met several versions of the Adult Legion, the Legion in its own continuity as well as versions that were evil IIRC. Now just add the 5yl, reboot and 3-boot versions to the mix and its no different than it ever was.
There's also nothing that says he couldn't have gone to the future with a Legion, then watched Conner go to the reboot, and picked up his cousin from returning from some time with the threeboot LSH after Infinite Crisis.
Also note opposite the Legion there's a statue of Ka-L and his Cousin Power Girl so he knows there's other versions of Superman too.

D'oh!
Right you are, that's Dream Girl NOT Ferro (possibly the ONLY time I've ever made that mistake).
...and I think I see Shrinking Violet in the old bell bottoms standing next to Nura. Cool.

I finally was able to dig my way out to get to a post office yesterday, To my surprise I had the last 2 months of comics there(YAY! I got to read SLOSH #25, #26). My LCS is 120 miles away, I will not be able to get there until next week.

Well, since this issue places Lar Gand in the Phantom Zone back when Clark Kent was a teenager, I guess that retcons out Lar's membership in L.E.G.I.O.N. and his involvement in the Seeding of Worlds.
Perhaps a different Daxamite will be retconned into the role of Valor ...
"Gee, Brainy, what do you want to do tonight?" "The same thing we do every night, Bouncing Boy: try to take over the United Planets!!" They're B.B. and The Brain ...

Re: the statues in Superman's fortress.
Far left: Colossal Boy (Cockrum costume II)
In front of Gim: Chameleon Boy in Cockrum red/purple costume
Behind Gim: Shadow Lass -- looks 70s ish, but you only see the hair, the cape and her right arm
Far right: Ultra Boy classic costume
Next to Jo: Could be Sun Boy or a miscolored Invisible Kid
Next: Cosmic Boy in Giffen era costume
Middle: Lightning Lad in 70s/80s costume
Between Cham and Garth -- Dream Girl in silver
Behind Garth -- Saturn Girl in pink bikini costum
Other figures are indistinguishable.

Perhaps a different Daxamite will be retconned into the role of Valor ... If I were a DC writer, here's what I'd do... In Post-Crisis/Pre-Zero Hour continuity, one of the reasons Lar leaves Daxam is to find out more about his father, Kel Gand, who died signalling the Daxamites in INVASION! Lar also had an older brother, Del Gand, who never leaves Daxam and goes on to be the ancestor of Eltro and Laurel Gand. Well, just like Clark goes from being a "big brother" figure to Lar back to a "little brother" figure post-IC, Del Gand gets reimagined as Lar Gand's "real" little brother. So my idea would be this: When Del was a little kid, his older brother Lar left Daxam to investigate the destruction of Krypton ect. as seen in the Action Annual. Years later, when little Del becomes a teenager, he leaves Daxam in hopes of finding out what happened to Lar. He joins LEGION for a time, and eventually makes his way to Earth and an encounter with Superman. One of the sticky points is right here, though: if we accept Del as a continuity replacement for Lar as Valor, Valor had Vril Dox's anti-lead serum. Not to say there aren't ways out of this. Such as: Dox--"The lead serum is keyed to your specific DNA, Del Gand. It won't work on anyone else, not even your brother." or Superman--"That particular Phantom Zone projector got destroyed one of the many times my Fortress of Solitude got trashed. Without the exact data about the dimensional coordinates, finding him would be as difficult as finding one person in our entire universe" or somesuch. Anyway, Del takes on the name Valor (it still sorta works, as we Earthlings have superheroes with names like "Solar" or, er, "Sun Boy". Maybe Superman helps by saying "Interestingly enough, in our language we have a similar word that means 'bravery'") and does the world seeding gig. Most interesting of all...since the "need" for Lar Gand's career in the 21st Century to be ended by his 1000 years in the Phantom Zone doesn't apply to Del, a Del Gand Valor could theoretically still be around.
"I will drill a hole through my head. You cannot stop me."

I was afraid something like this might occur, given that Captain Comet's L.E.G.I.O.N. also seemed to have been retconned in Mystery In Space. Be a shame if this turns out to be true.
