So we've switched a legion character from black to white with relatively little teethgnashing and bloodcurdling screaming.
I wonder which legionnaire would've survived a gender switch with as little protest?
I've always wanted an Asian female Karate Kid to emerge after Val died in the Lightle era (I never know what version I should be referring to). With the popularity of Hidden Dragon, Crouching Tiger and House of the Flying Daggers and other kickbutt female action stars (Alias and Elektra's Jennifer Garner, Charlie's Angels), and given how many female legionnaires already seem to be excellent buttkickers (Dream Girl & Shadow Lass), I don't know if it would have been such a leap for this new version of the Legion to have a female martial artist extraordinaire.
So which legionnaire could you imagine/prefer being "switched" over?

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I've seen it in Fan art for quite a while now. So much so that I'm not sure I'd have a problem with any of them being rebooted as the other sex. Also there have so often been female counterparts that it's common in Legion stories to see something like that already anyway.
Superboy/Supergirl Lar Gand/Laurel Gand Brainiac 5/Brainiac 4 Matter Eater Lad/Calorie Queen Phantom Girl/Phantom Boy (or was it Lad?) Sun Boy/Inferno Shadow Lass/Shadow Kid Shrinking Violet/Micro Lad (I guess now that's Micro Lad I and the new Gim is Micro Lad II ?) Chameleon Boy/Yera Allon
I'm pretty sure there are more but that's all I come up with off the top of my head.

I'd be very happy with a female Brainiac 5...there just aren't enough girl geniuses in mainstream comics. Especially in science.
I enjoyed Monstress being a Hulk-ified female, because that's also pretty rare.
A Dream Boy would be interesting, especially a preboot narcoleptic one. How would the other Legion jocks tolerate a guy who didn't have a physically-impressive superpower, and kept swooning all the time?

It's not going to happen, but a switch on Saturn Girl/Lightning Lad would be interesting - Saturn Lad would be the controlling, cold/somewhat repressed, competent guy and Lightning Lass would be the hot-head hero - plagued by her evil sister, Meka and supported by her laid-back & more philosophical twin, Ayl.
The cold & competent guy is pretty standard fare, but we don't have that many brash and reckless females.

I've seen pics of Timberwolf as a female, too. If both Shrinking Violet and Timberwolf got gender bended I suppose I could live with it. I wouldn't want one to switch without the other, though. (I like things balanced.) Terrible thought: The Timberwolf/Light Lass/Shrinking Violet relationship with gender bending thrown in.

When you see the reverse-archetype, it's usually a redhead. As for Saturn Lad, so long as the writer avoided the obvious (ie-- just writing Professor X in tights and with hair) I'd be all for it.

Cosmic Girl and Night Boy -- take that and let your imaginations run wild. I'd be very happy with a female Brainiac 5...there just aren't enough girl geniuses in mainstream comics. Especially in science. Seconded!!

Lelynd Jath would make his fortune helming the Subs by day, and singing in a club by night. He'd end up making it a huge success because he could double as bouncer whenever fights broke out. Rozz Krinn would be great to see. Every bit as great as a female Coluan genius. Maybe by the time 3100 rolls around, women's sports will finally have the respect they deserve: and it will be completely plausible for Women's Magno Ball to be the jumping off point to a career in crime-fighting.

Dream Boy was not a fan favorite. But I liked him. I liked that the other Legionnaires resented him for taking Dream Girl's place, but he didn't seem to let that bother him or stopped him from doing his job.
