Apparently Wizard #35 revealed that these two are collaborating on a Legion arc to be published after issue #34. There's a thread about this at the DCMB and at Simone\'s forum at CBR She doesn't deny it. In fact, she had previously confirmed that's she was working with Legion editor Steve Wacker. See this article WTF??

I think they mean Wizard #148 don't they? #35 would have been published something like 9 years ago.
I believe #148 was scheduled to be out today. Maybe it'll be in the mail when I get home.
But if its true I'm very disappointed. I really do not want Bryne anywhere near the Legion. Generations was too close for me.
Anyone a regular reader of Simone's work? I don't think I've ever read anything she's written.

I like her Birds of Prey, and her work with Deadpool over at Marvel had alot of critical acclaim. No problems with Gail writing an arc here. But why Byrne??? For this, we're losing Batista and Chip? He better have a really good inker... :grrrrrr...:

You're probably right about the Wizard issue # (I don't read it). I had #35 in my head 'cause that's the issue the Legion arc would start, if the rumor proves true. I'm not familiar with her work at all.

Oh, so I have read some of her stuff. If the BoP I got in the mail ( ) is her's. BTW, in that same issue, Jeff Loeb reveals his plans for bringing back Supergirl. Check out this Newsarama story.

I think she took over Deadpool when it switched to Agent X. I read the first 3 or 4 issues being that I enjoy Deadpool very much.... but for some reason Agent X didn't do it for me. The ideas and writing weren't too bad... but it just wasn't MY Deadpool anymore.
Gail writing a Legion Arc is intrigueing to me though... I think the book could use a woman's perspective every once in a while. Byrne is neither here nor there for me. I've read "Generations" but I can't remember the story. I don't know if that's a reflection on Byrne or me though.

I like her BoP and she has a sense of humour, so that's 2 points in her favor.
Byrne's artwork hasn't aged well to me. He'll have to have no less an inker than a Tery Austin to make this work.

It's in #148 of Wizard - Gail Simone and John Byrne kick off a four-issue bi-weekly arc in June's issue #35.

Gawd, I hope someone else is inking Byrne so he has to do full pencils. His upcoming JLA stuff with Ordway inking looks promising.
Is it ego that makes him ink his own stuff?

Waitaminute - DnA get kicked off three issues earlier than they wanted to leave (which is going to leave danglers - notably Cub)... and now they're sticking a four-issue fill-in in? What the frell is going on there?

That means we are still looking at 8 months before the new creative team starts. I wonder if we'll have to wait that long for a confirmation on who it will be.

Nah. I'm vocal about not liking his current work. And if Byrne can't take criticism then I'll apologize now. I loved his Fantastic Four stuff and the Next Men but over the last few years it hasn't done anything for me. Plus I hold him partly responsible for the mess that was made of the Legion's history because of the revamping of Superman he was responsible for.
I'm sure he's aware any work he does on the Legion will be scrutinize very closely by we, the 'rabid' fans.

Scott I partly blame Byrne for the mess that is/was Donna Troy. I miss her deeply and she just went wrong under Byrne!
But I am a huge huge Next Men fan!!!

Okay, call me stupid but you can't post to his board. I joined but that didn't give me access to post anything. When I got to the only link that says to post I get a page that says you have to have special membership privileges and that they aren't accepting applications at this time. Anyone here have a 'posting' membership?

Looks like they are trying to keep out the riff-raff (not that we can blame them) so I've sent a request to the Group Owner. Maybe someone there will break the news before I can. They have already discussed it, somewhat, here .

Gail has written some really good stuff. Her Deadpool was flat out the funniest book I have read in years. Agent X was alright but not as good as Deadpool. Her Birds of Prey is great too. I see this as a really good thing really since Gail is a bright star on the rise with a lot of fans which I'm sure will follow her to at least check out her Legion story. As for Byrne I am taking a wait and see on him. I did like his work in Generations III so he is capable of putting out good work, and he does still have some very loyal fans that will pick up whatever he does and that will bring the numbers up a bit too. Does this mean the rumors of Waid and Kinston are wrong or are they still coming on after Simone/Byrne?

Perhaps they're pulling folks in to tackle what the second-galaxy team has been up to.
