She's a dream, all right, but can she see a future with you?
The childhood friend Exnihil never had.

Waid has shown beyond a doubt that he "gets" Dream Girl. Issue # 2 was incredible!
Gotta say, I'm also loving Waid's Shady and Karate Kid. And if Cosmic Boy does something else funny, I might even... *gasp*... like him for the first time EVER!
OMG, and a Triplcate Girl feature next ish! Yay!!

I love this new Dream Girl. I see people only looking at the most surface elements of her character and declaring her a ditz. She's very obviously smart, extremely gifted in the use of her powers, a great fighter, and has a sense of humor. I almost wonder if she doesn't intentionally refer to future conversations in front of Brainy just to annoy him.

Love Nura, like the characterization, hate the costume.
Wonder what's gonna happen between her and the new Thom.

At first I didn't want Thom to be black (die-hard traditionalist that I am), but now it's easier for me to picture Star Boy not being paired with Dream Girl, which made for Dreamy's marriage comment to Brainy that much more believable.
I see Nura regaining her platinum locks as part of a future storyline. As her power matures, it will be reflected in the changing of her hair colour.

Just beautiful as usual Dean! it made me think you ought to make a thread in Bits and put all your Dream Girl stuff in one easily accessible place. You've done quite a few of her as I recall.
Once Dreamy was shown off as one of the smartest Legionnaires her whole "ditzy" front made sense. It's way too easy to underestimate her that way and winds up giving her an advantage in a lot of situations.
"Look at my eyes...which are up here by the way..." I almost lost it laughing at that bit.

Yeah, this was absolutely fantastic work by Waid. I remember being dumb-founded, but then delighted, when Dream Girl became leader in the 1980s. The mix of self-assurance and sex-pot was fantastic, and has been unmatched until now. Waid's Dream Girl could go toe-to-toe (bust-to-bust?) with Levitz's. Sketch's work is excellent, and points to the possibility that the new Nura's hair could be colored somewhere between blond and platinum-wight, which might satisfy all her fans.
I personally never got the Dream Girl/Star Boy romance. It always seemed like a high school love to me -- they both went through difficult, life-changing events together, but beyond that didn't have much in common. As Nura became more confident, Thom became more diffident. I'm much more intrigued by a Dream Girl/Brainiac 5 "romance," but can I say it's hard to apply the word "romance" to interactions between precog and a calculating super-genius? I would be very disappointed if Dreamy didn't play the field first--"You won't hurt my feelings, I KNOW this will be only a one-night stand."
...but you don't have a moment where you're sitting there staring at a table full of twenty-five characters with little name signs that say, "Hi, my superpower is confusing you!"

Dream Girl and Brainy would be great, after all he has the love for leggy blondes.
The new Star Boy is cool, though. His attitude and look is good, making him unique from the others instead of just another generic brown-haired white guy. He and Shadow Lass are my two favourite characters so far (making #2's cover a good one for me). Then again no Kinetic (grr no redheads) or Vi yet...

I'm so glad Waid/Kitson are righting all the wrongs done to Dreamy in the last few LSH incarnations.

I'm loving Waid's characterisation of Nura but am really not down with the blonde hair or the costume, which is the worst on the team IMO.
Look at Dean's sketch of Nura above. She looks a million times better there than she does in the real book. Barry's got it so right when it comes to most of the other elements in this book but when it comes to Nura he (and the colorist) have got it so wrong IMO. I hope we see some change here asap.

As much as I've always liked Star Boy, I must agree. I'm sure Nura was extremely fond of S.B. in both previous continuties, and it's obvious he was completely in love with her, but they never seemed like a love match for the ages. Nura and Brainy would make even stranger bedfellows, to be sure, but the potential for intellectual and philosophical conflict makes this a much more intriguing prospective match. Besides, we don't even know if Star Boy is Thom Khallor (though I suspect he is). I hope the other romantic surprises we're bound to see are equally well received by older fans. That said, there's nothing to prevent her from dating Star Boy (or anyone else) while B5 mulls over her little "joke", and who's to say he's not right about the ever-shifting future. Now if they'd only restore her platinum hair and fix the design on the pants, all would be well with Nura. On the matter of her hair color in particular, I think the fans have spoken loud and clear.

This really was Dream Girl done right. The usage of her powers wowed me. You would see glimpses here & there in the old series but this issue defined a great character & her abilities.

Damn sexy, but I'd rather see those pants black or silver or grey. Blue just isn't cutting it with me.
They looked kind-of soft purple in the preview and I liked that.
Maybe they're chameleoid mood fabric? That would be something a sexy trendy teen of the future would like? Maybe?

Why do I get the feeling that the Re-reboot will see me stripped not only of my ethnicity, but also my girlfriend?
