Okay, update from Jen. She says that she is pretty positive that Keith is doing just one issue (as that is what he told her). So either he is not doing the last DnA issue (assuming # 33) or DnA are leaving earlier than they announced or announced the wrong issue number for their departure.

[edit note]

Or DC screwed up and gave the wrong info in the solicitations for # 31.

Though I hate that the current art team is leaving, I certainly wouldn't mind as many issues drawn by Giffen as he cares to do! He's the GIFF, man! Gifftastic! Gifftacular!

So the confirmation I get is this:

Keith is doing just one issue, as previously announced. That issue will be #31 in March. So that means we lose DnA, TnT, and CnC (Chris and Chip) two issues earlier than expected. Actually we'll lose CnC three issues earlier since they will not be involved with #31.

Just three more issues, counting next week's #28, with Chris' artwork. That's just too soon for his era with the Legion to end.

You're sure DnAnCnC aren't doing 32-33?

Keith has said he worked on DnA's last issue. So if they are publishing that as issue #31 it looks like that's so.

There is always the possibility that DC has issued the wrong solicitation for #31 or that Keith is purposely being misleading about doing only one issue.

I guess we won't know for sure until the issues come out.

Hey Folks,

#31 is our last LEGION cover. Thanks for all the support over the last year. The run lasted much longer than we expected. The kind words written here and the people I got to meet in person at shows made it all even better. Tony and I are at work on a new monthly for Wildstorm called Ex-Machina. We hope you'll check it out. I don't know much about what Chris and Chip or DnA are up to next, but I've heard rumors.

Happy Holidays.

But DnA DIDN'T make it sound like that:

THE PULSE: How does it feel to work with Keith Giffen on an issue? A lot of people got into The Legion of Superheroes when his run began. Were those some of your first Legion issues, too? What did you think of his run?

DnA: Keith’s run was magnificent. Working with him is a real treat, and the issue should entertain all those who remember those days fondly.

THE PULSE: What's coming up in your final arc?

DnA: It’s a story featuring everybody, a real big blow-out finale, but the focus is Live Wire. We things it’s a great last chapter to our run.
There is no way you could reasonably describe 31's solicit as "a big blow-out finale with a focus on Live Wire." And DnA certainly don't make it sound like Giffen's issue is their last.

My money's still on 32-33 being their big-blow-out LiveWire arc, and Giffen's either misinformed or simply mistaken.

Hmm. Any reason my comment got deleted and you deleted and re-added yours hours after it was made SoM? I don't see any change to your post but my follow-up is missing and now this is showing your post being made 10 minutes ago when I know it was here hours ago.

Maybe the Time Trapper is messing with us.

Anyway, my missing post said simply that maybe Gif is purposely misleading, as I mentioned before.

Plus the focus may be on Garth but his fate will not be decided before they leave:

Quote
THE PULSE: A lot of people are curious why you had Garth return as Element Lad - if it was going to be kind of a "Proty" thing where it really isn't Garth but Element Lad pretending to be Garth, because he's crushed by what he did as "evil" Jan or something like that. What's going on?

DnA: We did it because it seemed interesting...there are all sorts of ways the story can go.

THE PULSE: With the remaining issues you have will you be able to clear this up or will that be left to the next team?

DnA: We certainly advance the story considerably in our finale story but this - like a lot of other things - will be left for future teams to worry about. From day one, we’ve been seeding the strip with storylines so that we could harvest them later, often setting things up that we hadn’t decided how best to conclude. Inevitably, some things are going to be left unresolved.
[edit note]
Almost forgot. My holiday message to Tom and Tony disappeared too.

Happy Holidays and best wishes for a successful New Year to TnT.

Hmmm...this is not the first time something like that has happened.

Mods, I think you should be extremely careful before deleting anything around here. If you were trying to quote but hit the wrong button, DO NOT delete the message. Better to close that window and start fresh. PLEASE!

Those with the power should be more responsible. Thanks!

I don't understand it -

DC spends the last YEAR trying to promote the Legion on their 45th anniversary with a special Secret Files, two large story arcs with GREAT artwork, bright and colorful cover art, and a new title masthead.

They get the Legion firmly into the top 100 titles for sales, steadily now around the mid-eighties threatening 30k issues in sales each issue.

Then, they decide to throw in a Giffen artwork issue? What additional readers do they think they will get on board with this goofy looking art? Ugghhh!

I predict the upward momentum built up over 2003 is going hit a wall with this one. Please hurry, Mr. Kitson.

It's just too bad that DNA won't be around to at least finish their Credo and Cub stories. I hope the next creative team can think of a good way to finish up both of them.

Why is Superboy still wearing Superman's costume in issue #31 if it caused such disastrous events when he first put it on?

I wish D&A would follow through with something once in a while. I'm kind of glad they're leaving. They've done a lot to rekindle interest in the Legion, but their inconsistencies and lack of follow-through are really exasperating.

IMHO of course.
