Hi all
I dont't kow most of you. I'm abit of a lurker but a long time fan.
Just wanted to start a topic to say goodbye to Reboot.
I've always thought of reboot like Legion: the movie, or Legion: the TV series - in comics. Taking the core bits, reinventing them, retelling the stories. So this topic is the fuzzy focused montage of the characters.
The laughter, the tears, the chubby cheeks, the tongues.
If I ever make several billion dollars and own my own cartoon network, my series of Legion would probably be reboot Legion.
Yeah. I miss them already. The sting on President Cho. Cos returning from the future with the rst of the Legion. Koko.
Long live the legion indeed.
Add your memories here.

From the pre-DnA reboot:
One particularly good thing was the revival and characterization of Invisible Kid. He became one of my favourite characters throughout this period.
I don't know about the beastly little Koko, but I'd have to admit I do enjoy Koko-bashing - so he served a purpose, after all.

I agree. In my opinion, the reboot Invisible Kid was one of the best written comic book characters ever and made the whole reboot worthwhile. I'm really hoping Mark Waid can continue this great characterization.

I was initially mildy interested in the reboot, but not enough to buy it. fllowed it on the rack, til I lost interest with the 20/30 split. DnA brought me back, and I filled in my gap.
Looking back as a whole, reboot wasn't my ideal Legion (Levitz/Giffen), but it had the Legion spirit, and it was a lotta fun in its own right.
Most fond reboot memories, off the top of my head:
Vi suspecting Laurel Laurel's redemption ('Aires Annual #2) Brainy's reaction to Laurel's 'death' the 'secret admirer' bit The turnabout victory against Chu (#80) Tinya's (initial) return (circa #82 or so) Gim's guilt trip dumped on Thom The 50s trap Cham and Jeka's 'dates' Kari telling Monstress, "Let that coward mascara run, whoever he is" Lost #8 to 12 + Worlds The reunions in The #1, 3 and 10 Rokk's impression upon the troops in #6 Imra trapped in the 'Lost' illusion Rokk's disappointment in Connor
Farewell, reboot, farewell!
The childhood friend Exnihil never had.

I absolutely agree here. They really brought the character into his own.
One thing I will miss in the new-boot is that before, Lyle was an integral part of the team's early days. He built the flight rings, formed the Espionage Squad, co-wrote the Legion Constitution, helped Cham become acclimated to the Legion and the UP worlds in the face of some anti-Durlan sentiment, and just plain played a big role in the team's early adventures. That's all gone now from the looks of it, but it's still possible for the character to be a vital part of this new team. At least, I hope so.

I liked loads of it! But one of my favourite things about the early reboot was how they introduced a morally ambiguous Legionnaire - Kinetix! She was one of my favourites, but that Legion annual where we see her origin is down right sinister (thanks to Alan Davis's art maybe!)
She still came over as a likable character but with a "fatal flaw" that would end up making her the Emerald Empress! When that didn't materialise (and they went for the whole sorry Emerald Vi thing instead) things went down hill in a hurry.

I have to say I look back and I love almost all of post boot - DNA legion. Some unusual plot twists, but exciting, fun stories. It was great.

Hear hear!
I'll miss Kinetix too - her lust for power, her chidlike bubbliness, her friendship with Vi, her relationship with Mysa - she was just so damned interesting before they zombified her and then terrorformed her.
Other fond memories:
Gates and the "teenage death squad" Brainy insulting everyone constantly Triad and her wonderful reboot characterization Live Wire slowly maturing as a character ditto for Violet Cham revealed as Ayla's secret admirer Jenni and her puppy love, and overcoming her fears to become a great Legionnaire Umbra's snappiness and depth of character the Brainy-Lyle rivalry Tinya's relationship with Winema Shvaughn Erin, woman of action Nightwind and Drura as cadets so many more...

I have to say that the reboot made me sell my whole collection of LSH back when Zero Hour happened.
I came back with DnA and thought it was rather good, but not as good as the adult Legion had become.
So I'm not really sad to see the reboot go. However, I still have mixed feelings about the new reboot/relaunch/whatever...

From the pre-DnA reboot
DnA only relaunched the series, not reboot it.
I still have my fingers crossed, because I think the new series isn't going to succeed because of the fact that Waid's been doing most of the talking and DC's confidence in Waid may have drop, because of how Birthright sales sank after the annoncement that it would become the new origin.
I still say Shikari is a fail-safe because of her powers and how the Special was written. Waid will probably find a way over this using hypertime and showing us how limited he is in time traveling stories, but Shikari might've been his employers idea.

I know it wasn't for everyone, but when I think pre-DnA reboot, my first thought is how much I liked Jeff Moy's art. Strangely enough, I can't think of too many stories pre-DnA that I remember terribly fondly. The first reboot year, maybe. Most of my memories are of confusion--is Tinya dead or isn't she? What the hell was the Singularity thingy, and why did it mess with Brainy's face? Why are we stuck in the 20th century? Why did someone allow Bizarro Legion to happen in a nationally distributed comic book? Andromeda is a nun? Vi is the Emerald Empress? What the hell is going on with Kinetix? Projectra is a snake with raccoon servants? A Marxist bug (although I will miss Gates if he is not present in the newboot)? Why are we telling stories that have already been told before?
And please, please, let's not even think about the newboot in terms of the pile of poop that was Heroes Reborn. It makes my head hurt...
The only consistent feature of all of your dissatisfying relationships is you.

Most of all Gates. I will miss him immensely. He was the first Legionnaire since Levitz Wildfire to really become a huge favorite of mine.
Lyle and seeing him as a Legionnaire.
The post-boot Luornu. This was a Lu that I loved.
Zoe and Jenni.
The early Tinya/Jo relationship. It really made me feel all warm and sappy when they were on the prison/sun planet.
The sting on President Cho.
Cosmic Boy (like TMK Cos) just being one of my faves.
Wildfire after a ten year wait.
The early reboot was a lot of fun, as was Lost and early DnA. I'll miss Gates most of all.
