Wow! Finally...Atom Girl/Shrinking Violet gets a spotlight issue! It's about time isn't it? As usual we'll start with the solicitation... "For months, most of the team believed her existence to be a myth, a rumor, a prank. Now, get ready to meet Atom Girl, a.k.a. "Shrinking Violet," the Legion's newest member and Brainiac 5's secret weapon! But will her presence be enough to buy Invisible Kid some much-needed trust and credibility?" and here's a link to the cover... http://dccomics.com/media/covers/4723_400x600.jpg Welcome back Atom Girl (formerly known as Shrinking Violet/LeViathan II)!!!
The best way to find out where you're from is to find out where you're going and then work backwards. Where are you going? I don't know!
Spooooooon!!!

Can we please wait until we actually have the issue in hand before making these threads in the future? Please.

Tomorrow's pretty soon, though!
Are we sure this isn't one of DC's cruel pranks?

Are we sure this isn't one of DC's cruel pranks? If it is, Diamond fell for it.

Gallaghers! We know Diamond is a bunch of suckas, though. They fall for everything, even all those Rob Liefeld solicits that never came to pass.
Or maybe they're IN on the prank! DC, Diamond and numberonelegionfan are all in this together!

You missed #7? It was great - but it's sold out now. Tough luck! Better pre-order #8.

Originally posted by MLLASH: Gallaghers! Hey! Are you taking my name in vain, Lash? I agree about waiting til the issue comes out to post the thread about it. But I just read it and so . . . S P O I L E R S P A C E The cover is pretty misleading because Shrinking Violet doesn't really have that big of a role, other than a conversation with Lyle. We don't see anything about where she's been or what she's been doing either. All we learn is that Imsk's entire civilization is in the snow globe thingy. Nothing new on Orando or Dreamy either alas. All they mention is that the funding from Orando is gone. Really just a tying up loose ends issue. The art was adequate, but disappointing becaue it wasn't Barry's. The Legion is now affiliated with Earthgov. We meet a Kenz Nuhor/Reflecto/Nemesis Kid/Duplicate Boy type character and Luornu gets to kick his ass, yay! But then Ultra Boy zooms in for the kill, boo! And Colossal Boy's got a gay brother AND a giant puppy, YAY! Another 3 pages wasted on a goofy letter column. I want a 1 page letter column and 2 extra pages of story, please.

It has interesting character material and funny one-liners, but the fact that it seems to have been cobbled together from two separate efforts -- note how the Violet storyline has a different artist from the Lightning Lad storyline -- really shows.

-- It struck me as really weird that Rokk would just take off before dealing with the fallout of last issue. Weirder that it happened off panel. -- So is Gim (or his bro) Jewish again? (there's something that looks like a star of David in Gim's room) -- Am I the only one a tad disappointed that the first openly gay character in this book is someone's brother rather than a Legionnaire? -- So it looks like we have the "butch Vi" again. Can't say I'm thrilled. I also don't get why she was such a secret this whole time but now feels fine galavanting about openly -- was it really just to preserve this "legend"? -- I wish the new Reflecto looked more interesting visually. His rant also seemed over the top. If that splash page was meant to be poignant they needed to give more weight or pathos to his character. He comes across as a whackjob - not someone we can identify with as "the dark side of fandom (or ourselves as fans)". -- Jo as punchline is getting tiresome for me. It's a shame his character's been reverted way back to the old "dumb jock" model. -- I still don't understand why Brainy thinks Lemnos can do anything to revive Nura.

Oh, yeah. The whole "Lyle told on us, wah!" subplot has gotten WAY too much air time, IMO. I'd hoped it would've been discarded by now, especially since Lyle's plan saved the day AND due to the fact that he was seriously injured fighting Elysion & Co. Though he seems completely recovered this issue...

Well, I really liked this issue, though I thought the art was rather weak. I thought it did a good job answering some (but not all) of the unanswered from the previous arc and setting up a new status quo.

After reading this issue, I can safely say that this is the FIRST time I ever liked Violet. She doesn't come across as too-tough, nor as the simpering weakling she seemed to be early on. I especially like her sense of humor.

i thought this issue was great - i always love the issue after the conclusion to a big story for the check-in-with-everyone-downtime kind of story.
that said, i think the cover was misleading - this is in no way a Vi spotlight issue. i'd love to see shorter multi-part stories and at least 1-2 individual L* spotlight issues a year.

I love "downtime" stories too because it gives you a little more insight into characters and it also gives the writers the opportunity to introduce potentially interesting supporting characters as well. Now personally I could take or leave Colossal Boy's brother, but it (Light Lass in bed with the brother and not remembering how she got there) "opened the door" for conversation and insight into the "casual relationships" between the other Legionnaires. this is great stuff. I am fianlly looking forward to each and every each of the LSH like I did when I first started collecting in 1980!!!

Omigod. The look on Ayla's face when she woke up in bed with the giant AND the dog Some genuine surprises for me: - Lyle *did* rat out Cos. (I'd really convinced myself is was Vi). - The Imskians worship Brainy as a god. - Lightning Lad makes a deal with the devil (let's make no mistake about it). - The goats are DEAD!! Nice touch: The Star of David on the floor next to bro's bed. Bonus points: No Cos or Brainy in this issue. Yay! Mild disappointment: No Barry (but Lashley's okay in my book) Sure, I expected to see more Vi but I liked what I saw. This story was completely out of left field but utterly entertaining. Thumbs up!

Is it possible that Phantom Girl was herself (or knows someone who was) rejected by Colossal Boy's brother, and then he was "labeled" gay? Maybe the guy is still a virgin or very particular and saving himself for the "right one". I mean we really don't know the circumstances of why they (Light Lass and the bro) ended up in the same bed together. In the preboot both Ayla and Salu were in straight relationships for years and we know how that turned out. People are already using terms like "openly gay" and we know nothing about the guy yet.

Calling that person the devil would make her daughter some sort of succubus right Tromium?
