Yes I know. Wasn't it great! laugh

The Cham now is really Proty II. He has that generic alien blank think going on. Give me a sarcatic holmes alien any day. wink

I this for serious?! The Proty part I mean??

Okay, Sorry for the outburst, armsfallofffboy.

In a comic book world in which we are to believe the unbelievable, Tyroc's powers made little sense, were not consistent from writer to writer, and were IMO silly. They amounted to sonic telekinesis...which is just uninteresting. Tyroc suffered from the same problem that Chemical King had--inconsistent, undefined, difficult to write powers.

Re: Tyroc's origin

Tyroc originally was a borderline caricature of the "angry black man," spouting off about racial injustice until he is successfully shown that white folks just ain't like that anymore. Go back and read the origin issue. It's almost laughable. At least he never says "Sweet Christmas!"
Well, but Tyroc's powers are NOT lame. He possesses the power to create localized pockets of warped reality via his screams. That's where the effects come from. Now, Colossal Boy's powers, or Gates, or Monstress...

As to Tyroc's origin, I KNEW that. But it's STILL great story material. I never understood why afro-americans were allways supposed to react moderately when they were insulted and attacked all their live simply because they were born with dark-brown skinn?? confused tease

Not that he was chipper and cheering people up, but I don't remember any whining or "we're doomed" rants. He usually seems to just assume everything's going to work out somehow. I may be mostly thinking of the DnA version, though. (It's hard to keep them all straight somwtimes. smile )

He's been very laid-back (still not the right word) when he wasn't angry. I'd like to see that continued.

I'm just thinking as I type. I apologize if I'm not making any sense.
No need to apologize, Arachne. I know what you mean.

Timber Wolf - in most of his incarnations - IS hard to pine down. Not because he's got no real personality, but because they thend to be a bit suptiler then most other personalities in super hero comics.

Was it Conway or Levitz who suggested the R.J. Brande-Cham relationship? That idea kinda came out of the blue... [/b]
The Cham/Brande relationsship was first introduced in Secret of the Legion of Super-Heroes # 4.

No the Cham part isn't serious. He's just all cute and appears to be 7 years old. though last issue Barry did improve his look. This Cham suffers from being the "alien" of the group. He says silly things like "Me not understand human culture", etc. As a fan of the cultured shrewd holmes-like Cham...i despise him. smile

As for it being a movement not a team? Yeah. It's annoying. They are as revolutinary as the Boy Scouts of America...but Boy Scouts may be more hip. wink (though the character work on other characters and plot is good...minus the teen thing)

Re: Timber Wolf

One of the problems of ensemble casting in comic books is that in both art and characterization, heroes tend to blend into each other. Many artists and writers on group books make both the faces and the personalities verrrry similar to everyone else. One of Levitz's talents was to differentiate between Legionnaires in subtle ways, one of which was Timber Wolf's personality. He was not brilliant, occaisionally completely clueless, but always loyal and brave. Not perfect, not a cookie cutter hero, but a consistent fictional character.

The only consistent feature of all of your dissatisfying relationships is you.

Don't judge me!

He doesn not talk like that! :7 He's suffering from culture shock, but his language skills are just fine.

Beyonder, have you not tried the new series at all?? Brin's looking really good so far.

My thoughts on Brin are going beyond Levitz-era, so I'll continue it in the last T-Wolf thread.

Well, I dunno' where Beyonder is nowadays, but --hey!-- thanks for reminding me how much I hate it when people toss around the word "raped" like it's a broken fingernail or garden-variety irritation with how a writer portrays a character.

shake shake shake

Blecchh. I think I'll skip the rest of the thread after that. Thanks.
