Yeah, it's some flake's idea of the numerous alien races populating the Earth, but it does offer a possible origin for Gim. Sound plausible for a comic book origin?

Quote
ANAKIM, THE (also referred to the 'Els', short for 'Elder Race' or
simply as the 'Giants')

Referred to in ancient Hebrew tradition, this race is allegedly tied-in with a branch of ancient humans who broke-off from mainstream humanity because of their vast size which had developed over the centuries, possibly as a result of a genetic anomaly. They are said to range anywhere from 9-11 ft. and in some cases even 12 ft. in height, although in configuration they are remarkably similar to 'International' humans. Are said to possess a means of molecular condensing and expansion which allows some of their kind to mingle among humans on the surface. They have allegedly been encountered in
deep and extensive cavern systems below the western part of North America, as far north as Alaska, as far south as Mexico, and as far east as Texas. They are believed to have interstellar traveling capabilities

Entirely plausible for a comic book origin. Over time, they would have affected their size - maybe through genetic manipulation and alien science to become even larger - hence the 60 feet.

Does the "Hebrew tradition" source of the giants race mean Gim is still Jewish? I wonder if that was the original source for a choice of his religion. Was the first known reference to a giant human in the Bible - Goliath - or is it one of these common myths found in all traditions?

There are certainly giants in Greek myth, so I assume they are fairly universal.

Superboy, I know there are height differences between these aliens and Gim, but I figured that Gim might simply be a comic book version of those beings. And among their powers are molecular expansion. If they're 9-12 ft. to start, and they expand, they could get even bigger.

And that is speaking in comic book terms, not, "ahem", in real life...

Doesn't that go without saying? But I was alluding to the stated powers of the Anakim - even though they're not real.

You know I never caught this before but they did bring back the hint of Gim, or at least someone in his family, being Jewish.
