DC has or is planning on releasing a TPB from the Elseworlds Titans/Legion team up a few years back, 4 issue prestige format, I think illustrated by Phil Jiminez??

It certainly would sell a bit more considering all the extra stuff both teams will be doing together in the coming months!!

OK, I just dug it up. It is called Titans/Legion of Super Heroes: Universe Ablaze. The art was out of this world and the story wasn't bad either.

Someone please tell me if this was released as a TPB??

Many thanks!!

I don't know about the "Trade" treatment for Universe A-blase, but did we read the same story?

The general feel for the story around these parts when it came out was... Great Art/Bad Story. As much as I hate to do it, I had to go along with the group on that one. I remember the Legionnaires being kinda shallow and not liking the story that retconned itself out of existence. I guess the story just seemed forced and lacking.

Don't take this reply personal, if you liked the story then I'm happy for you and I certainly don't think any less of you for having differing tastes than what I have... it's just that I was very disappointed by the story when all was said and done.

Never was released in TPB and I doubt they would since that team of Titans is no longer the focus.

But I'm another one who liked it. The only thing I didn't like was the Dallas-style dream ending. That made the whole thing pointless to me. Other than that I enjoyed the read.

I just remember the story as being OK, not great, should have made that a bit clearer. I just think at a time like this DC might cash in on it a bit more by releasing a TPB if for no other reason than the team up itself and the art!! laugh

Yea, the "wake up" thing was really a poor way to end a pretty OK story line, I think that also made me a bit 'underwhelmed' by how it ended. Who knows maybe they can create a whole new ending and release it as the TPB. Were Dreamer & Wildfire not members then?? Neither are a part of this story line!! :-(

The story line could easily have begun and ended with Dreamer as the ..... ummmm..... dreamer of the entire story and then woke up wondering if there is some truth to it in some other time period, in some other future or some other reality!!

And so it goes.....................

Actually, it was Dan Jurgens, the artist for Gail's run, #35 - 38.

Actually you are both right. Dan did the layouts and Phil did the finished art.

Y'know,

that's probably the only Legion story in recent decades that I haven't read yet... haven't found the gumption to shell out for those issues, when I can get Adventure back issues for around the same price.

Problem was, given who they killed off in the opening Titans sequence, there was no other way the story could end. I figured that out as soon as I read it, and it really hampered my enjoyment of the story.

Yea, but the art was really great. As an artist myself I really get off seeing high quality art used with the Legion of Super Heroes from time to time. Just imagine if Neal Adams committed to a 6 issue arc (of course for later release as a TPB), we would be so spoiled. I love Jimenez's stuff and Perez and others. I loved SOME of the art on this last incarnation of the Legion but it was always just a touch too cartoony for my taste. But my love for the characters kept me coming back!! laugh

I think DC could really make more money off of this enterprise if they gambled and released a few more LSH arcs from days gone by and recently, making sure distribution included book stores like Barnes and Knoble and Walden Books to really draw in new readers. TPB's have become a favorite of mine, they sit well on the shelf and it's nice having one or two complete arc's all in one book.

Maybe this wasn't the best story ever told of the Legion of Super Heroes but it's certainly not the worst and it's damned pretty to look at, that's for sure!! :-)
