As I fill in my preboot collection, these questions occur to me:

Did Laurel ever wear more clothes than the average Bushman while she was in public? I've seen her in two different costumes and one presumably-recreational swimsuit thing, and it seems like she only really puts on clothes when it's time to go to bed.

And was a reason ever given as to her costume preference--especially given a power that required her to get into potentially costume-shredding situations as a matter of course? Was she, I dunno, just trying to maximize her solar energy uptake or something? From what I've seen of her she doesn't seem too interested in, say, keeping her opponents distracted.

Enlighten me!

Actually, I think the theory was that since she was invulnerable, she didn't need clothes for protection (against the environment or anything else), and so it made sense to cover up only what was absolutely necessary for modesty's sake.

Silicon it's like this. The girl was hot and she knew it. And for all we know she may have literally been hot absorbing sun rays and all of that. Being nearly naked felt good.

But I think she knew she had it going on. I had a huge crush on her. Damn those Manhunters!

AS IF Brainy (or whoever) wouldn't have discovered she was an android when he removed the kryptonite bullet. What a stupid retroactive robot story!

So true Jim.

12th Level Intellect my ass. Without a doubt one of the dumbest retcon stories ever done.

Levitz couldn't have come up with something better to deal with that particular crossover? That was one of his very few brain farts, methinks.

Thanks for the info!

So every book's writer had to decide on a character they didn't mind getting rid of, more or less?

I don't think they all 'sploded. If I remember Wally West's dad was a Manhunter but I can't remember if he lived or not. At any rate it was certainly one of the worst crossover moments the Legion ever had to live down.

Somewhere I read a bit of fan fiction that "explained" that the Laurel we knew and lusted after had not been a robot all along, but had been murdered, and replaced with a robot, who then told everyone she'd been the "real" Laurel. That made SO much more sense... don't you think?

(Stan Lee used to call this "No Prize" material-- coming up with an "explanation" for what looked like a "mistake" on his part... heehee)

Bottom line: No Legion involvement in crossovers! EVER! The 31st should be exempt.

The only consistent feature of all of your dissatisfying relationships is you.
